This is why you don’t immediately dismiss players after they leave the team just to try to pump our teams tires. Sometimes you just have to admit your team screwed the pooch and made bad decisions.

Little bit worried, I thought the Bruins would have a better chance at bouncing the Leafs. Hopefully the Panther's momentum can carry them through.

The lesson here clearly is to never break your league’s record for wins in a season.

Flames deserve to be where they are right now due to not be able to retain players like them.
Don't know what you got till it's gone.

Bergeron and Krejci won't be retiring after this.

I do feel a bit bad for Bergeron and Marchand for sure, buuuuut pretty sure the two one Stanley Cup rings they already have will console them.

Both guys requesting trades, plus Gaudreau walking is really something the org needs to really think about as they head into this next era.
Also this is why I never really trust teams on a PDO bender going into the playoffs.
Boston was third in shooting percentage (11.8%) and 1st in save percentage .929 and had the highest PDO in league by 2 full percent (104% vs Dallas at 102%).
Tough to replicate that in the playoffs and the save percentage really cratered to .885.

Centre vs winger and the team quit on Benny unlike Tkachuk quitting on the Flames

Boston looked awful in OT. That’s a heartbreaking loss. Feel bad for Bergeron.

Two teams that are beginning to overcome historic playoff futility. We'll see who blinks first. Two big beasts in the east were slain in the first round in the Lightning and Bruins. It's wiiiide open now. Let's go!

One team just pulled off one of the biggest upsets in history and is moving on to the second round. A team with a future.
The other is in shambles and a complete mess right now.

Huberdeau set an NHL record for largest dropoff between consecutive seasons. It's already borne out and it's #### ugly

Backbreaker of a stat line on that last goal.
Flames should have given the keys to Tkachuk early on.

Tkachuk forced a trade - the team offered him 8 years at $10.5M - its not like they just went and moved him on their own accord and trading him for Hubedeau, Weegar and a 1st means they realized they were giving up the best player in the trade.
In the end the Panthers has one less point than the Flames but got in and made a huge upset.
If anything this is bad for the people that want the Flames to have a different mindset because it's just "Get in and anything can happen!"

I'm a fan of how both players elevated their game during the playoffs. Players who came through in the clutch. Just another reason why we didn't make the playoffs.

I truly hope that Huberdeau is using some of this as motivation.

I shouldn’t do this but it really sucks we lost these guys and have nothing to show for it. Huberdeau’s contract makes it doubly bad. Just a horrible time to be a Flames fan.
|
Flames should have signed Chucky to an 8-year deal and given him the “C”, not some garbage 3 year deal. Bennett should’ve been played as our #2 centre from day-1. When you draft players like that, you build your team around players like that.
Flames coached and managed the team into the dirt.
