Back when Treliving wouldn't make cap space to sign Tkachuk long term, many people said that if the bridge deal backfired, Treliving should be fired, so I am glad he just decided to quit instead. That was a huge management blunder.

Tkachuk never really got the respect he deserved. I was saying for a long time, and I know a lot of other people were also saying it, that Tkachuk was the best player on the team and the guy to focus everything else on, but Gaudreau was the guy everyone seemed to be focusing on.

I am pissed off that we lost him and Huberdeau's face plant since then hasn't helped, but I also can't help but love Tkachuk's style. Still my favourite player and I am glad he is proving his detractors wrong.

Well I would much rather see Tkachuk hosting the the cup over McDavid.

I didn't like his antics here either and was sour on the player but he's proved a lot of people wrong and right he is the real deal and it sucks we lost him but it is what it is.

That goal to tie it up last night is exactly what the Flames are missing that guy just standing beside the goalie whacking away at the puck and creating havoc. We had zero players even try that.

The guy has a soft touch is annoying and does dumb stuff on time ice now we know what it was like for other teams when he was on our team.

4 years ago, I doubt he signs more than 5 years, probably only 4, and Gio was captain then. You stripping Gio of the C?

If Tkachuk signed a deal like Rantanen or the Toronto guys after two 50 point seasons and a 77 point season he would have been raked over the coals after 2 years into the deal.

He designed a deal to give himself options and he used it. Do you think ownership would have been on board to give a 60 point player a 8 year 80 million deal?

Well he’s gone now, Flames had to overpay at that time and he would still be a Flame. Once Gio left the C should have been given to him. Tkachuk had and still has a massive ego but now looking at it should have gave him the keys.

Giving him the C after Gio left was after he signed his 3 year deal with a guaranteed 4th year at $9M. I really doubt it makes a difference at that point if he gets it. By then for sure he was headed for the US.

While coach Jim Montgomery wouldn't reveal his starter for Game 7 back in Boston, there were strong indications at the morning skate that Linus Ullmark would be replaced by 24-year-old Jeremy Swayman, who made a brief appearance in Game 4 but otherwise hasn't started a game since their season finale on April 13.

Swayman doesn’t even need to stand on his head; if he can just be solid back there I think the Bruins can provide enough run support against Bob.

We will see what Chucky and Playoff Sam Bennett can bring, Tkachuk has all the confidence in the world right now and all the pressure is on Boston.

This should be a good game, and a test of character for this Bruins team. The Panthers are in their heads a bit. If they choke, it will be nearly as historic as their regular season record.

There is no team in the league that finished as far below the Flames as the Panthers are below the Bruins.

If the Panthers win, would it be the biggest upset in SC history? The best regular season team ever vs. 8th seed, can't think of anything that would beat that.

I think that the Lightning got swept with 60 wins in the 1st round by Columbus of all teams would top it

Plus in this NHL all playoff teams are really good teams
Back in the 21 team league having an 8th seed beat a 1 was a way bigger upset

Few years back when Tampa was swept by Columbus in the first round was a pretty huge shock. they werent the best team ever, but they had a very elite regular season

Yeah I was thinking about that series. Would be in the mix for sure. I guess also because the Panthers won the president's trophy last year win here wouldn't be that big of a shock.

95 pt Edmonton Oilers over the 124 point Presidents Trophy winning Detroit Red Wings in 2006.

In terms of points difference I don't think there could be a comparable upset until back in the 80's at least. I think the most recent season with this big a spread between first and eighth was 1996 with Detroit & Winnipeg, and before that it was '89 with the Flames & Chicago. Not sure when there was an actual upset with this kind of points spread though.

Curious to see how this one finishes. Boston has all the pressure on them.
