His big thing was Tkachuck's lack of playoff performance. It was a flawed premise.

lol. I just read this again and noticed the writing issues. I may be a little drunk tonight. Don't judge me. My buddy has a cabinet full of whiskey. It's not my fault. He kept offering....I'm only human.

Yeah, I wanted to also say that even though as a Flames fan I'm sick about losing Tkachuk (and Gaudreau and Bennett), but I still love all of them.

Best case scenario alternate timeline is that the Panthers and Oilers end up playing in the finals and Tkachuk leads the Panthers to victory.

No. Oilers need to lose asap, then the Panthers beat whomever

I definitely understand that angle and it isn't an easy or straightforward decision one way or the other. If they do go with Swayman I think he has a very short leash because of the game 7 situation. There is no room to falter. Potentially one weak goal and it might be time for Ullmark. The short leash probably goes for Ullmark as well though. In any case both goalies need to be game ready on Sunday because either one might be called to go in and save the playoffs for Boston.

Um, no.
The best case alternate timeline is that the Oilers don't even exist, but second best is that they miss the playoffs every year in every timeline where they do.

At the Calgary Expo all day, everyday since Wednesday. didn't watch but saw the statline. I'm content with a Tkachuk the Legend thread!
Won't be able to watch game 7 which means the Panthers will win!
Bennett can still ead though! lol

This has been the best series of the first round, at least for me anyway.

This has been an amazing series. Gotta give credit to the Panthers for making this the best series to watch. Bruins in 7!

Three points in an elimination game. It's only one series, but it seems Tkachuk is finally starting to exorcise his playoff demons. I'm delighted for him, and I'll follow his career the rest of the way, but it just really hurts that this didn't come against Edmonton.

Had another thought — was there ever a period this year when Ullmark played six straight games (let alone seven)? If this was the regular season, Swayman would have already played Game 3 and 6. Add to that the added stress of the playoffs, and he might be a bit fatigued (maybe not physically but probably mentally).
Unfortunately the problem compounds itself because Swayman hasn’t played in 2+ weeks either. It will be really interesting to see how this plays out.

There was a six 6 stretch for Ullmark early in the season and they won 5 of those games. But since New Year's eve is was essentially a 1 and 1 split between Ullmark and Swayman. Looking at that I'm actually surprised now that the coaching staff and management didn't continue with that goalie trend into the playoffs. It was obviously working and now they are in a tough spot.

Goaltending is the great equalizer. Ullmarks falters just a bit and Bob rises just a bit and we have a series. See also LA, Colorado, Winnipeg.
