Still thinking Iggy ends up ASC under Mitch Love. Or, takes the Wranglers reigns when Love takes Sutters job.
That's my hope anyways

Lol, I bought tickets for game 5 in Abbotsford so yeah, I knew that.
What I meant was will the Wranglers get last change in game 5 despite playing on the road?

I'd imagine $$ weighs into the top seeds decision on format too.
Wranglers already have two home gates under their belt now.

I think he's capable of being a 35-45 point guy in a good year, at best. Similar to Byron or Tyler Ennis. Good player, likeable, talented. Certainly not a guarantee, and we're not looking at Johnny or MSL 2.0 here. Unfair comp for Phillips imo.

I think that's a pretty fair assessment, and Byron is a good comparable. And that is not an insult in any way.

Phillips is a skilled player that deserves to be paid for what he brings to a team. I don't think that happens in Calgary unless he is resigned to never getting a chance to be a full time NHL player. Unless Sutter and his ilk are removed from leadership a player like Phillips is not getting a fair shake. Moar Lucics, Lewises, and Ritchies and less young guys that can actually improve and possibly turn into more than what they currently are.

He's not getting a long term deal from anyone. He is going to get a one or two year, close to league-minimum, show-me deal.
And if the Flames offer the same or better deal as other teams, I doubt he is going to be petty about not wanting to sign it. He might, but I doubt it personally. My guess is that if he is given a legit chance to be a member of his home-town, favourite team, he'll still take it (if Sutter isn't still the coach, at least).
But we'll see.

Sounds like we're hamstringing ourselves on a lot of personnel decisions if we don't move on from Sutter. We're where the Leafs were with Babcock 4 years ago. Of course, I hope the results of moving on come much faster for us if we move on to Love/Conroy.

Had this in the other Wranglers thread but makes more sense here.
Was at the game last night. Super fun night. The hockey is fast, obviously not as mistake free but hard-hitting. Man, Phillips takes a beating out there. Pelletier too. I didn't think he'd be back to start the third after getting creamed.
Brutal cross checks to the upper back that should have been called. The reffing was pretty bad. Especially the smaller ref. He just looked like he wanted to be the centre of attention out there.
Love Pelletier. He is a whirlwind and so positive with his teammates. Duehr looked good. Zary really needs to improve his skating. Someone will give Phillips a good look next year. It just won't be us (boo). Poirier has the tools but will need plenty of seasoning in the ahl.
Amazed Hoglander kept getting shifts with 4 penalties and the likeliest reason they lost the game.
The evening made me mad we aren't filling the stampede grounds with Flames playoff hockey.

Oh man, last night's game was awesome! Way more fun than game 1. I really hope the Dome fills up more and more the deeper this team goes. Ben Jones was everywhere. Duehr was a pest. The action was fast and hard.
The Wranglers are like that new side piece you just started hooking up with while your girlfriend is in a coma.

Yeah, sharing the rink with the Flames means you have to schedule around their home games in April, May and June.
Theoretically, of course.

I think at this point Phillips has proven enough that he could easily get AHL contracts for good money from any team, or in Europe.
He likely tried to find a coach that will give him an NHL shot because really it's his last shot.
Dave Lowry - Assistant in Seattle - Coached him in Victoria
Mitch Love - ???? - Coached him his best two seasons in the AHL
If Mitch Love is the new head coach in Calgary, then I think he stays. It's still his home town and with the Wranglers being here too then it's easier for him.
If Mitch Love isn't the next coach...then I think it will be Seattle.

It's not a Calgary thing, all the series are off until at least Wednesday. Besides the next games are in Abbotsford.

So the top team gets only 2 of the 5 games at home?
On what planet does that make sense?
