Rhett nailed it 2 days ago, he said Sutter refuses to play rookies because the “AHL is where you learn to be an NHL’r” in his mind and that won’t change.
Said that after the 2004 run and then the lockout Daryl changed his entire tune and thought the team needed to get “veterans who’ve been there before and won” to push the team over the edge and so they got old grizzled vets.
Then went on to say the game has just passed Darryl by, great coach, a winner etc etc but you have to coach to your rosters strengths, and you need to utilize your youth and let your rookies play because the game has changed.

either you didn't know that, or you did and you're about to comment on 'reverse-racism'. Either way I'm curious how this turns out.
|
No, I honestly had no idea what that comment was supposed to mean.
So, based on your breakdown we're to assume that Cali is white and benefits from historic anti-black racism cooked into society? Again, I don't agree with his comment, but that seems like a pretty absurd conclusion to reach based on his posting history.
Also there's no such thing as reverse-racism. There's just racism.

I think Sutter is good coach with great experience.
He can make bad team to average or better team. His system and player assignments works for hard working roster.
But he needs 3-4 an elite players to make the team contender. His team plays pretty good safe game and those elite players need to score when they get a few chances during the game.
Currently Flames don't have those players so I believe this team will not succeed much if Sutter stays next year.

Don't be an ass, it was me saying that is probably the only way someone would want Sutter back after everything that happened after this season. We all love Chris, it takes a special kind of person to twist it that way. Be better.

Rhett is my favorite part of Barn Burner. He always has me giggling and he drops gems that I agree with

Lol, he says things you agree with because he says everything. Couple days ago he probably said the exact opposite. His mind is incredible in the way he just convinces himself of something new every time he talks and says it with blinding conviction then just throws it away and chooses a new angle the next day.

I find it funny how the narrative is now "Sutter NEVER plays rookies" when it should be "Sutter doesn't play enough rookies for our liking". For at least half to three quarters of the year I can't remember a game that didn't have a Ruzicka, Pelletier, Duehr or Gilbert in the lineup. Mackey also got a bunch of (terrible) games. None of them grabbed it by the horns and was undeniably a force that couldn't be removed from the lineup.

Today I learned that someone thinks creating an allegedly toxic work environment for a millionaire boat-anchor is worse than calling a black person the n-work.
Wowee That's a candidate for worst take of the year.

I may get roasted for saying this, but Bill Peters got fired for less. It's so obvious that Sutter has made a completely toxic workplace and anyone responsible for letting it continue into next season is going to be just as culpable.
Do the right thing Flames (Edwards/Maloney).

I’d like you to defend this statement with some support. We know what Peters did. What are you accusing Sutter of that is worse?

I don't think so. The guys that came in can't seem to grind.

To be fair, Cali prefaced it with "I may get roasted for this". So he knew it was controversial to put poor coaching techniques ahead of abusive, racist actions....But he also still did it.

Probably a distinction without a difference, but IIRC Peters didn't call Aliu an n-word - he used it to disparagingly describe his taste in music.
CFP has had some preposterous takes lately, but I'd take a stab that he might have been arguing from the standpoint of Peters' actions relating directly to the Flames. Still a weird take

We also have no idea why people didn't like playing for Sutter. Maybe he bag skated them too much. Maybe he gave them the silent treatment constantly.
Without having any idea what the guy is like, to say he's worse than a coach that was fired for racist conduct is... something.

Haven't seen an opinion like that on CP in a long time. It makes you ask "what year is it?".
