The top seeded team gets to pick the format of the series between:

2 at home then 3 on the road

or

2 on the road then 3 at home

The schedule is wonky because Abbotsford and Calgary are too far apart (>300 miles) for the teams to travel by bus. Instead, they fly back and forth. The 2-3 format minimizes costs while also ensuring both teams get at least one home game. But it's not really a fair home-ice advantage, either.

It'll be the same for the next round, if the Wranglers advance. WCF and the Cup Final are 2-3-2.

As of now, there are zero pairs of tickets available on Ticketmaster available for Game 2 against Abbotsford. Should be a great atmosphere.

While very athletic Quick in his prime was more of a butterfly style goalie than Wolf, Wolf's style seems to be more old school stand up but he has lightning speed in his legs and his post to post movement is very impressive, some people are gifted with incredible twitch muscles, I think he's one of them.

Sorry if I missed this, but does anyone have a full Wranglers roster anywhere? Would love to see who the Healthy Scratches were from the last game. Is a guy like Rory Kerins with the club? Such a shame that Coronato isn't eligible for this--would be so good for his development.

It will be interesting to see how the attendance fares if they advance to the next round. I assume a lot of the sold seats were the ones the were included with the season ticket package which included the first 2 home playoff games. It was a great atmosphere on Wednesday and should be even better tonight.

Once again its really too bad about the dumb scheduling. Game 3 isnt until Wednesday. Next round likely over a week away from starting could cause interest to fade. (Hoping it doesnt)

I foresee myself going to more Wrangler games.

I found the pace to be quick - I don't think they do official TV timeouts so the game flowed quickly. The arena being half empty means comfortable concourses, short bathroom lineups (if any) and leaving the arena via car was a breeze.

Oh, and ticket prices are about 1/6 of NHL prices, but AHL hockey quality is not that drastic of a dropoff.

Yes I will also be buying tickets to the next round if they advance. The main quality difference I noticed was a bit sloppier passing but that comes with an advantage of exciting turnovers/chances I guess. Speed and pace was still good, definitely feels like pro level hockey.

It will be interesting to see if their play is cleaner tonight after shaking off the rust from the 11 day break. Also, Phillips getting ejected so early last game threw a wrench into the plans, which I'm sure made it tough.
