Guys are going up walk away from $5M because they don’t like the coach? Yeah, right.

This news along with the silence from the franchise and Sutter himself makes me think there's plenty going on behind the scenes.

Hard to imagine a player under contract holding out because of a coach. But whoa. European player makes sense.
Dreger is an agent’s dream. Reports exactly what they want. Timing of this is interesting given lack of news. Team is obviously undecided. Agents give him this grenade to drop in an information vacuum hoping to edge the decision their way.

Depending on the player this could be great news.

Well if the Flames released him he’d likely get more on the open market. He’d pretty much just be demanding a trade.

Yup.
Sutter not having a year end press conference is telling IMO.
We've learned now that the reason Treliving didn't have one that day was because he was already gone for the most part. But what was Sutter's reason?
At this point I wonder if the decision is made already and it's more about coming to a buyout of his contract that is agreed upon by both sides more than anything.

Why would the Flames do that? Whether it’s Lindholm or any other player. He has a contract and if he chooses not to honour it, I suspect that would raise questions about his character.
I don’t doubt there’s issues but these are professionals, and adults, being paid a lot of money. Both players and coach.
This take by Dreger is stupid to the point of its legitimacy should be questioned. When/where did he say this? The tweet is a quote but that doesn’t mean he actually said.
Dreger: ‘Nakita Zadorov has let the Flames know he refuses to skate backwards anymore’.

This just gets worse and worse.
The Oilers win the Cup dusty Danny Smith wins premier our players boycott the team and we are left with a 1.2 bullion empty arena.

Lindholm’s words at his end of year press conference was ‘I have one more year left and we will see what happens’ not ‘I’m not coming back’. Sounds like to me he intends to finish his contract, which I’m sure his agent and the NHLPA would advise.
Ask yourself this; how bad would your boss have to be for you to walk away from millions of dollars?

If I already had millions? I'd still rely on strength in numbers. But it's isn't necessarily an empty threat.

"And there are lower level rumblings, and I'm not going to mention the players here, that there are some players who are willing to not come back even under contract if Darryl is still on the bench for the Calgary Flames."

If it’s Lindholm, he’d get traded for sure. The Flames wouldn’t terminate that contract.

Darren Dreger is such a Flames insider, everyone should believe everything he says. Back it up or shut it down, Dregs.
So sick of this "let's crap" on the Flames.

I mean not that hard.
Lindholm has one year left, and will honor that year...however, he will probably quietly let management know that he is requesting a trade. This happens quite a bit. No one walks away from their contract - he'll just play out the string. If Calgary faciliatates the trade in season, great. If not he's a UFA and free to go wherever he wants.
If these interviews are correct, there's a lot of work to do...

The only thing that would make sense is if it was someone with term left. The UFAs would just play out their contracts.

Yes. That’s a much more believable scenario.
The premise of a person walking away from multiple millions of dollars because they don’t like their boss whom they would likely only have to tolerate for less than a year strikes me as a pretty dubious claim.
If this is true, then I’m wondering what kind of abuse Sutter is subjecting his players to.

Ok but we know the lower level rumblings was a cryptic Eric Francis article in March, right?

"lower level rumblings" typically lead to verbal diarrhea. This is an example.
