Kings will play desperate on Saturday. I still think this goes 7 games and then it's basically a toss-up, provided the Kings can find a way to stay out of the box.

I think so too. The Oilers do have some confidence now though, which is a shame.

Stick with Copley, Korp has gone stale.
Refs owe LA a few gifts. They'd better see this through to 7. Kings were essentially screwed out of a 3-1 lead.
If they push it the distance there is always a distinct & real chance of chokers choking at home in an OT seesaw type game.
LA has it in them, just have to get back to what worked, and playing with a chip on their shoulder.

The Kings need to keep up that "Bend not break" defence on Mcdavid you were talking about earlier in the thread. It's kept him to a measly 7 points in the last 3 games.

Korpisalo has been playing well. Skinner not so much.
Kings could still take this series if Korpisalo gets back to his early series form, and Skinner doesn't come around. Oilers PP is bound to cool off from its ridiculous pace at some point.
Oilers should be heavy favorites to close out the series based on the 5v5 numbers, but anything can happen over a two game stretch.

Sad that so many people are cheering for Edmonton? Yep.
Amazing how many oilers ‘fans’ coming out of the woodwork, even in Calgary today. ‘But it’s an alberta team’ . No, it’s a hated provincial rival.

Easy first round?
LA has the most points of the first round opponents who opened on the road.
And Vegas opponents the Jets were by far the lowest team in the standings.

Like I said before blowing a 3-0 lead to go up 3-1 in a seven game series is pretty well stamping your ticket to elimination. Extremely difficult to overcome that and the Kings are likely going to bow out in 6 games.

Yep. What a swing, this series is over. Barring a significant injury at this point I don’t see any team other than the Oilers coming out of the west now.

What's sad is that after game 4 all of the media I heard said how exciting hockey was this season with various "down by 3 goal comebacks" that would never happen in the old NHL. They are actually encouraging the game management that is taking place. It's pretty pathetic.

I knew this series was over when the Kings blew that 3-goal lead, went up again, and then let in a softy not one but twice (3rd period and OT). Disappointing to say the least. The worst part is their bottom 6 is contributing a hell of a lot more than I thought they'd be. Everyone's clicking. Momentum is everything in the playoffs, and the Oilers are feeling it.
Reminds me when the Flames were dominating Colorado for the first 1.8 games in 2019, and the minute MacKinnon scored that OT goal in game 2 the Flames had zero chance of coming back. That OT goal gave the Avs life.
Another example that comes to mind is the 2014 Kings, when they reverse swept the Sharks in the first round and grinded out a 2014 cup.

That's the problem with using those advance stats.
Not sure if you've watched the series, but it was pretty clear that the Oilers were down and out in game 4 and headed for disaster.
They were gifted a pp and a non-call and boom, they were right back in it and haven't looked back.
Fact is, the game management strategy works if you have a dominant pp, which they do. Meaning, you can always count on timely calls to get you back in a game. In this series, it not only got them back in the game, but the series itself.
Further, I don't think it's a coincidence the reffing changed dramatically after all the whining up north. Not a conspiracy or "rigged" as Oiler fans like to say when they are losing, but more so a way to extend series and make more money.

I think we should give the Oilers the Stanley Cup. It seems to me they probably should have gone 82-0 in the regular season, if not for the reffing. They should have swept the Kings in this series, if not for the reffing. I mean, based on the Oiler fans coming here with such stellar facts, it can't be any other way.
Go Kings. It won't make any difference, but at least you play hockey the way it should be played.

In the last 6 periods of play in the series, with the Oilers in trouble, there have been 8 powerplays of which 6 have been Oilers powerplays including a rare overtime powerplay which obviously carries much more weight than a regulation time powerplay.
Impressive discipline suddenly shown by the sixth-most penalized team in the regular season.
I still remember that Oilers-Kings game seven last year where the Kings didn’t get a single powerplay. Again, quite the timing for the heavily penalized Oilers to pitch a perfect game.
Even last night McDavid is so reckless with his stick he hits both Kopitar and the linesman in the faces with one swoop and, to quote Oilers’ employee Louie DeBrusk, “no call on the play!”

I can't remember who it was but I remember an Oiler giving a pretty good elbow to a King along the boards. No call and not long after the Oilers make it 4-2.

Calgary was seconds away from going up 3-1 on the Stars. Talbot let in a goal with 12 seconds left and another in OT. Tie series. But it was over. Calgary got beat in game 5 and then took a 3 goal lead in game six and totally blew it.

Yeah. I've been to every game so far. Oilers did struggle early despite outplaying the Kings in every game. Ironically the Oilers won game 4 despite it being the only game where the Kings held the edge in play.
I do think the reffing changed a bit after media like Bieksa called out the Kings.
Kings haven't really gotten any PP's for stuff like what happened to Durzi at 1:41 of this video.

Kings were tenth most penalized team in the league in the regular season.
Oilers regular season- penalized 3.39 times per game.
playoffs- 3.60
Kings
regular- 3.28
playoffs-2.80
If the NHL is trying to rig the series in Edmonton's favour they are doing it wrong.
