Which we'll pay an exorbitant amount of money to go inside each time.

And the next municipal election cycle....
It's not like CSEC haven't tried putting their own person in the mayor's chair.
Wait....

Does this event center come with a new football stadium or are the Stamps still stuck at McMahon?

To see a live event? Sure, but you do everywhere if you want to take in something like a movie, show, concert, sporting event…. How is that an argument?
Name me one place you can see a movie or watch a live professional sports team without paying a cent.
Have you been to the new event centre in Nogoodville? You can go in free and walk around anytime you wish (obviously not the arena itself)

This deal makes sense, the only issue is the provincial funds aren’t guaranteed and the election could blow this up again.
|
Vegas’ owner did it. The owners can afford to do these deals privately they just don’t have to because cities cave.

At the risk of Bean getting mad at me, did they say anything about a timeline in terms of when they'd like to open the arena?
Trying to find that detail in 30 pages is hard.

Also hidden in the deal is the real estate transactions from the stampede to CSeC which may have significant value.
I’ll hold off judgment until more details are released.

I will too
But remember , the flames just care about getting a new rink. This is really all they want and that is $873.6M not $1.22B. I’m pretty sure their attitude is that if the province and city want to put in plazas and such, around the rink, then that’s icing but they can pay for it. It pretty much shows in the numbers.

Mayor stated, no further details until the deal is fully signed (i.e. no schedule)

I've read that the Calgary Hitmen are the most valuable junior team in the country. CSEC would never recoup full value selling the team to another market.

You will. I watch the Flames from home, and only go to games when I'm offered free tickets. That won't be changing anytime soon.

You do know why that's a terrible analogy right? Cineplex didn't get 800 million to build a IMAX screens.
