Most excellent turn of events.
I loathe the Jets.

Not sure why the Panel just took a shot at Calgary.. kind of unnecessary in my opinion. We're not that different than Winnipeg. Hard working but devout fans of a small market Canadian Team. I normally like Bieksa, but come on, man.

He said Calgary because Kelly lives here...he also said Red Deer (Ron) and Toronto (Elliott)
He was joking about the panel members

Appreciate the insight on that thanks so much for clarifying. I guess for more casual fans that don't know that much about the panel personalities it just seemed like kind of a cheap shot and rubbed me and my fiancee the wrong way. This coming a night after Bieksa and the rest of the panel salivates over Edmonton and McDavid last night. Just left a bad taste in my mouth.

I'll say it again... the Flames would've done more with a berth.
Jets are just a classic first round fodder team.

I feel a bit for Jets fans as much like the Flames they are a hopelessly mediocre organization doomed to alternate between missing the playoffs and losing in the first round for what seems like an eternity.

Well this one's over. No need for the Jets to waste money flying the players back to Winnipeg after game 5. Most of them probably would rather just stay in Vegas.

I'd like to see how other teams would do against the top seed, a team engaged in cap circumvention, icing a roster of over 100 million dollars, missing their best D man and 2 of their top goal scorers. The Jets played their balls off and lost the last 2 games by inches. No shame in that. Im proud of their effort and GAF

Well, at Winnipeg airport heading back soon. Hard to summarize everything in a few sentences but I'll try. My hometown really lives up out license plate motto. Everyone was so kind to me and Ben, from people on the street giving directions, to the game. A man gave my son a warm up puck that fell to his feet. It was a very nice gesture and a hell of a souvenir for your first playoff game. I was chatting with a guy during the warm up, dude was in a white suit and white hat, very awesome. It came up that I brought my son out from Calgary to see his first Jets game. When he left to go back to his seats he grabbed my shoulder and with a very sincere tone said welcome back home. It felt so good to be with my fellow Jets fans and with my son. He had an amazing time and loved seeing all the stuff that his Dad did when I was his age (my old school house, the park I walked my dogs at). If I can even poke a little fun, he even learned early nothing comes easy as a Jets fan.

Glad you had a great time, Whiteout. It really isn't whether your team wins, it is about all the obviously incredible memories you shared with your son.

I disagree, Flames would be in the same position or worse.
From what I have seen, Helleybuck hasn't given up any bad goals.
Markstrom would be good for 2-4 goals within the first 8 shots each game this series, plus he likely doesn't save any of the goals that LV has scored on the Jets.

Markstrom also didn't let in "bad" goals. The complaint was that (a) he was not making big saves on the golden chances that were given and (b) he was sub .900.
Hellebuyck has been sub-.900 except for game one, when he was .941 (on only 17 shots).
The teams are remarkably similar. Good but not absolute top shelf forwards. Solid D. Huge reliance on goaltending which, in general, Winnipeg got and Calgary didn't. But when Helly's not on, they lose.

Helley has been mediocre. Maybe if we had Morrissey and Ehlers and Schiefele we could overcome that. But Vegas is the top seed and plays well. They are incredibly good at moving up ice and exiting the zone as a unit and creating chances fast.

Missing your top defenseman and top center and a solid winger is a huge hurdle to overcome.
