I was chatting with a guy who owns a pit bull. He says that he's a responsible owner, but other pit bull owners are not. His comments were a bit strange.
He says if he does a poor job training his dog and it attacks someone and causes injury, the dog would get euthanized. His comments was that his dog attacking someone would represent a failure as an owner/trainer and that it also means that the dog was not taught well enough not to be a danger to society. He also mentioned that if it attacked his kids, he might end up killing it with his own two hands as a protective instinct to his family. "It's a pit bull, there's a possibility you might actually have to grab something to kill it to actually get it to stop, if it goes out of control."
That's a crazy mentality to have. But props to him.

Props to him for knowingly having a dangerous, unpredictable murder weapon around his kids? Out in public? Nope. No props awarded.

Couldn't we block off the entrances into/out of the coulee and keep them all in Drumheller

I also like that he's not sure if we would kill his dog with his own hands to protect his children. He might. Guess we'll have to see.

At least he's mentally covered all of his bases before jumping into pit bull ownership. Many jump in without even being prepared for the possibility of a worst case scenario.

people who love to stir the #### by gossiping grind my gears.
example. Someone at work came to me to let me know a person was trash talking me behind my back. gave me the old "as your friend, I thought you should know"
that's crap. You just wanted to stir the pot and see my reaction. Maybe get me to trash talk back so you have more ammo. Do people who do this really think most people would be happy to be reminded someone doesn't like them?
I already knew know the person doesn't like me, and I don't care to know what they say or who they say it to.

As always the only solution is to put down all dogs with any trace of Staffordshire terrier, bull terrier, or any of the associated breeds in them on sight. The fact that pounds and rescues continue to adopt out instead of euthanizing these vicious beasts who were constructed by Satan himself in the bowels of hell speaks to the moral failings of our society on a whole.

There's probably enough dogs for both, perhaps even some could go in Canmore where those vacation condos are.

If I was thinking about getting a pet where I needed to consider how I would have to kill it if it ever went berserk, I suppose I’d probably just not get that pet.

When someone informs me that someone was trash talking me when I'm not around, I just take it as a challenge to win that person over. And then I suffocate them with empathy and use simple social strategies to build rapport and over time they change their tune, almost every time.
It's kind of fun.
9/10 times it's just because that person assumed I was something else before getting to know me.
It's not for every one, but a good way to end the gossip (because people will no matter what) is to dissolve the "beef" itself.

I had a neighbour with 3 pitbulls and that really changed my opinion on a lot of things.
He was an exceptional owner, very experienced and attentive and those dogs were trained impeccably.
We still had an incident where they almost killed his GF's dog and they attacked me twice.
He broke his leg snowboarding and when they realized that he couldnt 'control' them anymore they went wild.
Yeah, so I've changed my mind on the 'only bad owners' pitch.

Pit bulls are exceptionally bad dogs and really should be banned from existence.

I am not even sure how you enjoy it. Sounds like if you are a “good” owner, then that thought of your dog going nuts is ever present in the back of your mind. Seems stressful.

Rarely much correlation with pit bull owners and people who aren't enemies of the state. Hopefully they aren't breeding humans. To wilfully contribute to the suffering of a living thing with such callousness really nauseates me.

Not sure if I am a card holding good owner, but my biggest stress with my dog is how friendly he is. Damnit Elvis, I don't want to talk to these strangers quit sitting around them looking for a pet and treats.

We got a new dog about 7 months ago. Its a reserve dog that has become a lot larger than we expected. Its a big dog. Problem is his mom (my wife) seems to have let him think he's an equal. This thing tries to violently rape me most days. I am 1/3 disturbed, 1/3 this is hilarious, 1/3 angry at my wife. Its pink thing comes out and everything, I can only imagine Silver dealing with this, probably better than I have. Its as tall as I am standing up, which isn't that tall. The kids laugh their asses off as it bites the back of my neck whilst dry humping me while my wife screams at him to stop.
Now you get a glimpse into my household.
I was not on team get a dog last year.
