Love the best player in the world argument. Like Edmonton should be given some breaks or something so that they can advance because they have the best player. What a joke lol.

Getting Fiala back tilts this series even more so in favour of the Kings. He was their best offensive player all year and only King that was above a PPG.

If you have to use a magnifying glass it is inconclusive. If the shoe was on the other foot that is what their entitled fans and media would be saying

This is probably lost in the discussion because of everything else, but wow does LA play a boring style of hockey. I don't know what, but something really should be done so teams at least try to play something that resembles even a mildly entertaining style.

It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's effective. The last thing you want to do is get into a track meet and start playing river hockey with the Oilers (that's the mistake the Flames made in last year's playoffs. Well that and Markstrom forgetting how to play the goalie position).

LA was in the top 3rd for goals this year and weren't particularly defensive. But when you're facing a team that destroyed the league offensively but is very mediocre defensively, you adjust your gameplan accordingly.

They don't need to play like this and normally don't. But this is how you beat Edmonton

Agreed, I'd like this if I wasn't out of likes already. And I'm out because of this thread haha

This is playoff, the goal is to win the series and advance and to win the Stanley Cup. Winning is entertaining for the winning team, hoisting the cup is entertaining for the fans of the winning team.

I actually don't find them boring at all. They are doing what they need to in order to limit the Oilers, but I enjoy the way they deploy their strategy and how they execute set plays and use quick short passes.

They might not have mind blowing players, but I find them interesting to watch.

I liked the tweet that said this in that thread. Sums the whole kerfuffle up:

The puck looks to have been barely touched by a high stick, which made very little difference on where the puck landed. This isn't getting screwed, this is not being bailed out by minor technicality.

Yeah, for sure I get why teams play this way, but I just personally find it almost unwatchable if it's a series between teams I have not much interest in. Just the non-stop have to get to the net/keep the opponent to the outside strategy I think hurts the game overall. I do wish in the future there is more of a balance and all teams play a somewhat attacking style

Yep.

Hockey's major problem is that they can't overturn calls unless they have conclusive evidence but their replay technology is not good enough to have conclusive evidence.

And then there are unclear rules that I mentioned above. What is possession? What is a kicking motion?

The Hockey Writers have an article posted - "Does Conner McDavid deserve the benefit of the doubt? The main premise is that if he says it is so, it is so. So does this mean he becomes the head official for all games, or just those that involve his team?

They should have a grid of drone cameras that hover over the rink and another set that follows the puck and stays exactly overhead of the puck at all times.

Wow. This moron writer, Jim Parsons, is actually advocating for superstars being able to make calls on the ice. I know he's from Edmonton but this guy is a really special kind of stupid. I can't believe what I read.

Might as well show on the jumbotron, McGambler's live bets on the game! lol
