I am really liking this Barlow best pure goal scorer in the OHL compared to Mactavish he would be a real solid pick.
my thoughts at 16
1) Barlow
2) Yager
3)Reinbacher
4)Ritchie
any of these players would be good picks

I think Danielson and Barlow will be gone by our pick, unfortunately. Danielson would be my pick, with Barlow, Ritchie, Yager, and Heidt in the mix. Yager will probably be gone too, maybe Ritchie.

I could totally see a scenario where the Flames trade down a couple spots and snag Matthew Wood.

I had the weirdest dream that the Sharks won the lottery and the Flames traded Wolf, Pelletier, Coronato and five first rounders for Bedard. I really need to get off the booze.

That's OK. Laurie will be available in the 4th. If not I like the look of McKnight. He's a little slow at times, but is a dependable two-way player most of the time.

This being reality could potentially make everything that's happened worth it. 0.5% chance we win the lottery to start. I don't know if michkov makes it past 4 but it could happen here. Zadorov hopefully helps him acclimate... maybe we could somehow sneak him over sooner. Dare to dream.

You also have to think though are the Flames the type of organization that takes the chance on Michkov. I wish they were.
 I don't think they are.

There are rumblings around the internet that Michkov won't make it past the Habs, unless the Habs luck out and win the lottery. If they are drafting 5th or later, they are going to take Michkov, at least that's the speculation. It's even been mentioned that they might be willing to to pay his Russian team or the KHL a ransom to let him out of his contract.

I didn't realize that Gabe Perreault set a new all-time points record for USA Hockey. He overtook NHL-star Auston Matthews. Perrault is still 17. But Matthews actually set his record in his 16 year old season.

Michkov overrides their traditional risk taking parameters, so in my daydream the risk vs reward at 6th overall on a 1st overall type player forces the Flames to take him.

I too share the pipe dream that is picking 6th overall but honestly even at 16 there is a chance of picking a franchise changing player. The top 20 really has some gems whether it's C, W or D.
I feel like this pick could make the jump earlier than Coronato did.

To add to your post :

Jack Hughes' Draft year statistics:

USNTDP juniors (USHL): 24gp/12g/36a/48pts,+17, 4 PIM, 2 ppg.
US National U18 Team (USDP): 50gp/34g/78a/112pts, 28 PIM, 2.24 ppg.
USA U-18 (WJC-18): 7gp/9g/11a/20pts,+10, 8 PIM, 2.85 ppg.

Gabe Perreault Draft year statistics:

USNTDP Juniors (USHL): 23gp/19g/26a/45pts, +22, 8 PIM, 1.95 ppg
US National U18 Team (USDP): 58gp/51g/70a/121pts,+70, 8 PIM, 2.08 ppg
USA U-18 (WJC-18): 2gp/3g/4a/7pts,+6, 0 PIM, 3.5 ppg (5 games left)

GP Doesn't quite reach Hughes' lofty numbers, but pretty similar- and Hughes went first overall. I think many will be surprised by where GP goes this upcoming draft. Hughes is a C, a more important position, whereas Perrault is a RW. Biggest difference is the skating- Hughes had elite speed, while GP has room to grow in that area.

I'm told the Flames have big interest in Ryan Leonard but man, another nail biting NCAA nightmare if they get him.
