If we trade players this summer I think a #1 target should be a left shot that can one time the puck effectively on the right side on the PP. It is no surprise that our PP went to #### this year, you replace 2 effective PP players with just Huby. Tkachuk was really good in front of the net and Flames are missing that this year, Kadri really can't compare to how effective Tkachuk was as a net front guy. Either way it is a higher priority to have someone one time the puck to utilize Hubys abilities

I bet Huby's point sky rocket if he has someone to pass to on the right side, like seriously Flames do not have a single effective lefty one time option. It is all a trickle down effect too, as soon as we have a one timer threat that can consistently score from Huby west-east passes, that opens up other areas around on PP due to guys having to overcommit. Coronato is definitely our best one timer option on the PP but sadly him and Huby would play the same side, lefties are just not as effective on the right side on the PP if they are not a good shooter.

I really hope we can convince Lindholm to stay here because the center UFA group is bare. Unless you’re flipping some of Lindholm’s assets for a guy like Dubois, who would be an ideal candidate to sign an 8 year deal if he’s up for that. I don’t feel like he is based on his previous contractual history. Doesn’t seem like a guy that would commit.

All the better when it comes to maximizing a trade return. The return for Lindholm should be very, very good.

We can always re-sign Trevor Lewis to be Lindholm’s replacement on the first line.

The Hockey Writers picked 3 possible destinations for Lindholm: Colorado, Carolina, and Minny. Colorado makes sense, because they might move on from Compher, and they could use a scoring 2C. They mention Sam Girard as part of the package coming back.

They also picked Calgary as one of 3 destinations for C Ross Colton. He’s seen a bit of a drop in production this year, due to the acquisition of Brandon Hagel.

I keep wondering if Chandler Stephenson will get tired of being the guy shoved down the lineup. He's an expiring guy after next season.

Not a bad option. He’s probably wanting something north of 5m.

I would happily trade Lindholm for Girard, Newhook, and a 1st.

Overpayment? Absolutely. Can we get that? Absolutely. Colorado had an abundance of riches and can easily trade Girard without losing Byram/Toews, trade Newhook who hasn’t been the best center (plays better as a winger), and a 1st rounder because of the quality player Lindholm is.

Acquiring Girard allows us to flip Hanifin too.

I was reading about that. Apparently Carolina made an offer for Lindholm at the trade deadline. I wonder what the offer was.

Should be. We'll see who's making the trade though.

Unless Necas is in that offer it is a hangup.

I wonder if the Flames will look at O’Reilly or Van Riemsdyk or Tarasenko. All 3 fit in with the general age and experience of our forward core.

Necas scored more goals, had more points this season, is 4 years younger and makes less than Lindholm all while still being a RFA next year as opposed to UFA.

I wonder if it would be Jarvis+. Reason being they already have Svechnikov and Necas, who is better as a RW than a center.

If you eat some of Lindholm’s salary that is an easy trade for the Avs to make. It would almost commit the Flames to a rebuild because even without eating any Lindholm salary the Flames would be taking on more salary in that trade. They would have to move out other high salary guys to make the cap work.

Avs are in a win now situation, a 3.75 million dollar Elias Lindholm is pretty appealing for a Cup run next year.

The Canes aren’t trading Necas lol. That ship sailed when the Flames took the Panthers deal over the Carolina deal for Tkachuk
