I want to know why they give Maloney the POHO spot if he's basically on the same page as Treliving? Its like Edwards just looked in the room, pointed at Maloney and said "yeah give it to that guy" without even knowing who he was lol.

This reporting by Seravalli makes sense.

It’s sad. Somebody mentioned penny wise and pound foolish

That’s where we are at. The Flames aren’t going to pay Sutter not to coach.
Instead we see a significant underachievement and far too many good people want out

Two franchise players last year, Tre now, and reportedly Backs and Lindholm

At least Huberdeau is locked up and will outlast the guy

The overall radio silence and limited responsiveness just reflects the organizational ineptitude.

The org is reeling and trying to scramble together a plan.

Unfortunately, making plans on the fly typically isn't a recipe for success yet this org is consistently doing that. They did it last summer and now their doing it again.

Would be nice if they got ahead of things for once instead of constantly being caught off guard and having to knee jerk react.

Yeah. The Flames org is a mess

Given we know Edwards is a micromanager I'm pretty sure he knows exactly who Maloney is and clearly thinks enough of him to promote him to POHO. What isn't clear is what he thinks of Conroy as the GM seeing Edwards passed him over and offered the job to Maloney. Everyone is connecting the dots to Conroy but if Edwards doesn't think he's the guy then he's not going to get the gig regardless of what Maloney thinks.

Everyone knows Tre would be here if Sutter wasnt. And Maloney's still saying "nothings off the table," when it comes to Sutter, even though Tre is gone. And people still believing that! Pretty logical that the org made the decision on Sutter simulateously with the decision on Tre.

The actions from people within the organization are clearly stating who they decide to move forward with. And Maloney - who is seemingly Tre's best friend in the org - not only stuck around but re-upped his contract. That speaks volumes.

It really depends on is Sutter bulletproof for Treliving cause he sucked at picking coaches or bulletproof for the next guy as well. I liked the other insider guy on here saying Sutter wasn't untouchable

Serious question: who do you think was leaking the Sutter vs Treliving saga to the media?

It was clearly done with the intent of getting public opinion sided on Tre's side rather than Sutter's, which suggests Sutter held the upper hand from the beginning. I doubt it was Sutter, Maloney, Bean or Conroy.

I suppose we can always hope for public pressure/embarrassment as a means to change.

I don't think it took a leak to get public opinion on Treliving's side. Darryl's actions with young player deployment and comments in the media pretty well painted a picture for everyone to see. Let's not forget that Sutter wore out his welcome in a similar manner the last time he was employed by the team as few tears were shed when he was let go.

I just can't believe he is about to torch our franchise for a 2nd time and head back to his farm afterwards. Truly unbelievable.

As a owner you just watched two franchise players leave, not because of the GM but Sutter being one of the reasons.

This is the second time he has stopped talking to the GM or Coach during his tenure and one time it was with his own brother.

And this is the man you decide to side with. Truly baffling.

We are in big trouble with Edwards as owner.

I mean, it's a pretty easy line to draw that it's Alan Walsh, and that Jonathan was on Tree's side of the rift for obvious reasons.

I don't remember who said it, maybe Frank or Eric Francis, but that Tree was a firefighter behind the scenes all year. Which leads me to believe that he was often the voice for the non sutter half of the room to sutter etc.

If the organization is truly going all in with Sutter, just go full Sutter. Get him a GM that will work with him and let the Sutter philosophy reign supreme. We know Sutter's main goal -- to win a cup. Maybe it'll work.

I mean, my goal is for the Flames to win the cup. But I think it takes a bit more than that.

One thing I find funny about this whole saga is that when Sutter was hired and things were going well, there were a lot people who were in denial that it was an Edwards hired and wanted to give credit to Treliving. Trelving has a lot of fans and I bet there is a lot of crossover between people who were giving him credit for that hire who now blame Edwards.

Granted, it is quite possible that Sutter was initially a Treliving hire, but the decision to change coaches now was taken away from him. I think there is also some truth about the media directing the narrative here. Treliving was a media darling and Sutter is the exact opposite. They are basking in the idea that Sutter is the root cause of everything bad.

If it is true that the owners lost trust in Treliving and limited his power, the main question is whether it was warranted or not. The guy did burn through and waste a lot of money on coaches. A lot of teams would have fired the GM for that, but Treliving was allegedly still offered a contract, albeit with some power limitation. I say allegedly because a lot of the information coming out still seems rather fishy and one-sided. There seems to be a lot of filling in the narrative that suits what some fans and the media want to believe. and maybe it's true, I don't know. Guys like Seravalli, Francis, and Valji have always disliked Sutter and will jump on things like this. Posters on here who come out of nowhere and claim to be insiders should be taken with a huge grain of salt as well. When people say things like; "I can assure you", but then don't actually offer any assurances, it seems pretty fake. If you can assure us, then do it with specifics.

I will say that it does seem pretty obvious that some players have an issue with Sutter and players having issues with a coach isn't unusual in general. I don't think Sutter is out of the woods yet and could still be dismissed. I just don't think they are going to do it before another GM is chosen. Treliving didn't have a clean slate when it came to his record of hiring and firing coaches, but the next GM could very well be given one. There is no point in firing him now if the next GM actually does want to work with him.

I believe Maloney said or maybe it was Steinberg speculating that the meeting with the coaching staff would be Wednesday, so it may have already completed. I'd expect a decision to be made by Friday by Maloney, Conroy and then communicated to ownership either Friday or Monday. Meaning, if they decide to move on from Sutter, we should expect something next week?

Brent as GM
Brian associate coach
Rich and Ron assistant coaches.

Who are we missing Gary? Didn't he win the lottery or something. Maybe he can be the CEO and Accountant/Capoligist and Analytics head.

Fire Mitch Love and promote Brett to new head coach of the Wranglers.

Sign Brandon Sutter to a 5 year 45 million deal and name him captain.
