Ryan will be 37 next year. He’s going to slow down. And Ruzicka’s speed is a little underestimated. Anyway assuming they have the same 3 centres on the top 9, that’s the only way Ruzicka is drawing in. If Backlund or Lindholm go, maybe then, but even so - 37 years old!

And the way Sutter likes to even out ice time, I’d not want a 37 year old out there.

I mean the Oilers are a two man team plus a record setting PP. That’s it, that’s all.

Problem is Ryan does something noteworthy about once every 20 games.

We finally shed Lucic and you're lining up to replace him with faster useless vets, one who is also treasonous scum.

Take away McDavid, they miss the playoffs.
Take away Draisaitl in the playoffs, they get swept.

I was pretty meh on Ryan when he was playing for the Flames, now that he is 37 not 27 and has that Oilers stink on him? No thank you.

Only just hit 500 NHL games! I know, I know, 36 going on 37, but he was one of the most effective defensive bottom-six forwards anywhere this year. Substantially better than Lewis has ever been. For less than a million, I'm sold.

It would be nice to have a guy in the bottom six who can actually carry the puck into the zone again.

It's understandable you get caved in occasionally by McDavid but the Kings are losing the battle against every line right now. Really inexcusable.

Ruzicka can carry. So can Backlund. Both in the bottom six.

I know he supposedly has fewer miles. That was the story when he was signed here. But the body ages - it just does.

Lewis was pretty darned effective. Had identical points to Ryan this year, at less than half the price, and his CF% is much better.

EDIT: The only guys I ever want from Edmonton are young guys who they gave up on too soon, for the Oiler rebound.

Derek Ryan is irrelevant. He's irrelevant on the Oilers, and he'd be irrelevant here. You can swap your bottom 6 all day long if you don't have a top 6, and it won't change a thing.

Take away either one of those two and they are a one man team. Take away both and they are putrid.

We have a chance to make forward thinking changes. I wouldn’t want to see them sign anyone over 30.

Unless of course they offer me a nice fat contract.
Id even promise not to complain about my boss or the dressing room.

It's the entitlement you develop playing on the Golden Boy's team.
