Higgins reading the insult on his phone might just be one of my favourite jokes of all time.

Feels to me like it lost it's charm. I don't care for the Zava character, Nate's promotion didn't feel justified then or in any episode since, and the storylines they seem to be setting up of Trent outing the gay player and Rebecca's psychic fortune both seem very contrived to this point.

I hope they can land things but I'd say this season has been significantly worse.
I wouldn't say it's been significantly worse. It was always going to be difficult to spin multiple seasons out of this show but IMO they have done a commendable job. There are still several funny moments in every episode and while it may never reach the peaks of the first season, the quality is still pretty high overall.

+1 and felt that way since season 2. They needed to expand the the story but only did it through added plotlines with character development made to fit said plot. Feels more like a soap opera at this point.

Still enjoyable though.

The first season was perfect and was always going to be hard to follow up. Biggest problem for me is the use of Rebecca. She was a great villain in season one with an enjoyable character arc but the writers haven’t known what to do with her since. The relationship with Sam in S2 was like a soap opera and this psychic stuff is similar.

Still heavily invested in the Ted, Nate, and Roy storylines and am liking this final season more that 2.

Season 2 had some great arcs though:
- Nate's turn;
- Tartt's redemption
- Roy Kent's move to coaching
- Ted's mental health issues

Not sure what ya'll are on about. Rebecca and Keeley's stories are more compelling to me than most of the football stuff. There's real character work there as they figure out who they are and what they want. Far more interesting than the footballers grunting about how they lost again.

This season is just much funnier and I think that's what is setting it apart.

S2 had less humorous commentary, and was a little more uneven in tone/direction with the Beard escapades episode, etc. This season it's like they got back to doing what the show is best at and leaned into it.

I don't mind the Rebecca subplot, even though it's a little disconnected. Just because there is some weight to it (e.g. fertility). Dropping the Sam romance retroactively hurts S2 a bit though.

Keeley's business subplot is just alright. You just kind of tolerate it, until they get back to the much more interesting plot around the team and Nate. Keeley was a better character when she was closer/more involved with Richmond. Now her thing is a separate story almost.

I must admit that's very un-Ted like. Not a great look for Sudeikis.

I'm surprised at the mentions of the humour for this season. Personally I'm laughing a lot less than I remember for the first two seasons. Maybe just me though.

I find some of the witty zingers catch me off-guard and get a genuine laugh.

Coach Beard continues to be the best.

Being 'forced' to go to 'Co-Dependency Anonymous' still makes me chuckle.

I think the only part I laughed out loud was "For Zava!" I enjoy that character because I enjoy Zlatan's antics. I was hoping he'd stick a bit longer. I also think I'm just getting annoyed with Ted overall. Personally I think the 2nd season was revealing him as basically a fake with a lot of sadness and anger building under the surface. I was hoping that would get paid off as well. I don't buy that all these people around him find him so irrestibily charming. In real life he'd be brutal to be around all the time. Stupid little puns and American-isms. I think especially Brits would tire of him almost immediately.

Roy learning to ride a bike wasn't something that I thought I needed in my life. I was wrong.

Pleasantly surprised by Colin and Trent's story development this episode.

I thought it was a brilliant episode. It is so hard to make a heart-warming comedy, but they've got it down perfectly.

That episode was a bit awkward with all the different non connected stories but did a good job pushing the plot and characters forward. Loved the Jamie and Roy stuff as well as Ted “inventing” total football. Also thought the Colin/Trent stuff was really well done and enjoyed seeing Rebecca happy.

What was the Canada reference? Thought I caught something but was too busy laughing at the restaurant staff all being Aussies.

I might have caught it because I had subtitles on. It's after the line "WW2 was won by America".
