Heh. Sound a bit orange Julius.
It's clear ownership shared their next x years plan with Treliving and he chose to not be part, probably with Sutter behind bench as biggest part.
Sigh
I really think I may be with Treliving on this. After 40+ years I think it's time the Flames and I part ways
Maloney on fan saying that he will not take the long term gm position, is looking for a progressive gm not just a retread and that Conroy and pascal will both be interviewed. There is no urgency. Todd button still controls the draft (thank god).
Is Pascall the gm of the Wranglers? And if so, at least partially responsible for the makeup of the team? Though not sure if he has any say in drafting or coaching hires. And he has the Hockey Canada stink associated with him.
In the summer you bashed the players for leaving, now its Trelivings fault?
Both guys said they wanted to come back and got offered top dollar and both decided to leave and take less money.
One ended up in Columbus he had no plan.
Not sure about Johnny, but Tkachuk for sure having Sutter here played a role.
Okay, but you have told us this stuff already. Do you remember the puck incident where Tkachuk lost his cool then kind of mailed it in for a whole season and didn't start playing until he was promoted to the top line? There was also that rumour that he and GIO were not getting along and possibly other players too? Then was the issue brought up by a player of him constantly asking for captaincy, maybe that rubbed other players the wrong way so Sutter could have made it a non issue. There was also the interview where Sutter said he felt bad for Tkachuk because he spent a lot, of time at the rink a lone with no where to go. My point is we all know how you feel about Sutter but it is possible that Tkachuk left for his own reasons and that Sutter was just a small part, of it? Maybe Tkachuk has some other reasons he is not talking about, or maybe he decided in advance we wanted to head to the states. This all could be a none issue and Sutter is just a small part of his decision.
Is there anyone on cp that you have not told that this Sutters fault, we know this is how you feel but why do you feel a need to constantly conviince everyone Sutter is a "bad" person or coach. Some of us agree with some of your points but why the obsessive behaviour towards Sutter?

I don't get it. Why would keeping Sutter make it look more like their choice that Treliving parted with the team, more so than if they also fired Sutter at the same time? To me, the latter would make it look like it was their choice.
Anyway, it doesn't matter. They even indicated that it was Treliving's choice.

That seems like speculation on that posters part, even we agree there is inside information there.
They've already abandoned the angle of Brad leaving being their choice and said clearly it was his choice. So why are they keeping Sutter?
I agree - I'm just saying that the insider poster didn't exactly make that point clear, probably purposely, and I could interpret it a few different ways.
Also though, the press conference made it pretty clear that the Flames weren't trying to hide that it was Treliving's choice to move on, so that part is wrong at least. They aren't trying to hide that.
I think Jim Bean said it best in the presser about keeping your eyes on the horizon.
I am looking forward to a new GM with a fresh set of eyes and ideas. I am looking forward to the change that may bring. Hopefully a GM that can attract talent and make us better.
If Sutter sticks around, well, I guess we have to move forward with him.
Either way, I am not going to speculate or wallow in the decision. There may be some growing pains but I am firmly in the Go Flames Go camp now and forever.
Was thinking of starting a new thread - should we? About potential GM candidates?
List off the top of my head:
- Craig Conroy
- Stan Bowman
- Chiarelli
- Benning
- Hextall
- Dale Talon
Who do you want out of this above list? Hmm thinking we should def start a new thread...
Who am I missing? Any AGMs around the league who have been working in their role for many years, waiting for a chance? Though if they did that, Conroy would be mighty upset and I wouldn't blame him.
it's not Tre leaving in isolation, it's the general direction that this organization is taking with Tre leaving, Sutter staying and "rebuild" being a no-no word.
Was this confirmed?
I'm traveling and not following every bit of the news today.
I am sure Tre will leak a bunch of stuff to his media cheerleaders to make it all Murray’s fault. That he is a good guy who works hard and makes good trades is not enough to overcome three spectacular coach hiring blunders, mistaking gaudreau’s conflict aversion for loyalty, muffing Tkachuck’s first extension, the numerous FA gaffes, and an obscene draft pick burn rate. Good riddance, here is a participation process trophy.
