Finally saw John Wick 4 yesterday. Loved it.

Most of his ideas work better as short stories. His Twilight Zone stuff was enjoyable. Nope would have been fine as one of those.

Finally got around to watching Sonic 2 with my kids, and I was not expecting it to be that good. Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles were all great, and Carrey was absolutely phenomenal as Eggman. He was good in the first movie too, but this was another level, pure unhinged 90's Jim Carrey. The movie was basically a recreation of Sonic 3 & Knuckles that I played the absolute #### out of as a kid, so my nostalgia meter was going nuts. And then when Carrey starts rocking out to ####ing Walk by Pantera in his giant robot? *Chef's Kiss*

The only thing that dragged this movie down was basically every other human character not played by Carrey. If they get rid of the sister-in-law and that cringy as hell wedding stuff, trim the movie down from 2 hours to a tight 90 minutes, it would have been perfect

Never considered that. This would have been a great 45 minute episode with some massive edits and cuts.

I'm really glad I didn't go see Nope in the theatre, but I wonder if I would have found some enjoyment being forced to focus on the big screen. What a mess.

I watched both versions of Super Mario this weekend, and while I enjoyed them both I have to say I like the 93 live action version more. They took more risks and created something very weird and odd but also fascinating.

Nah man this is one of those weird contrarian revisionist takes that’s been popping up a few times the last week since Mario came out. The ‘93 movie may have been weird and risky but it’s also ####ing terrible.

The original Mario Bros can be a fun watch, just because it's so 90s. It bleeds nostalgia for the time period in which it was made.

There's however no nostalgia for the actual subject content, as the movie is nothing like the game. The original movie is definitely not a good movie. It's total nonsense, but a few of the performances are entertaining, as the actors clearly didn't care and just YOLOed it at parts.

I dunno, I don't think it's the greatest movie ever but I did enjoy it. I absolutely love the production design in it and the world they created. Its a 90s cyber punk look and feel to it, the sets look like they could have been in a 80s sci fi film

Saw AIR last night with the wife. This is the new Matt Damon/Ben Affleck flick about the origins of the AIR Jordan brand and the process it took to sign Michael Jordan. A strangely compelling story that you get invested in pretty quickly, but nothing I would consider earth shattering. Some really well placed humor amid solid performances amongst all the cast, and an okay script. LOTS of 80's nostalgia, especially the soundtrack.

I'll be honest, it's not an exceptional movie, but it's pretty entertaining overall. Worth the watch. Even my wife, who is NOT a sports fan in any way, liked it quite a bit. 7.5/10.

Mystic River is on Netflix right now, it had been a long time since I had seen that movie, but it still holds up. Lot's of great performances with an absolutely start studded cast. Laura Linney's final scene with Sean Penn is very memorable. One of my favorite Eastwood movies.

Rewatched them last year, and I thought 1 held up better. But 2 is fun if you consider Johnny Knoxville as the precursor to Tom Hardy's Venom.

Linoleum is an excellent movie, we paid to rent it off of Youtube last night. Stars Jim Gaffigan (yes, the comedian) and Rhea Seehorn (Kim from Better Call Saul).

The IMDB plot summary is:

"When the host of a failing children's science show tries to fulfill his childhood dream of becoming an astronaut by building a rocket ship in his garage, a series of bizarre events occur that cause him to question his own reality."

Gaffigan really gives a great low key performance (this is much more a drama, not a comedy), and the way it all comes together in the end makes for a really wonderful film that will stick with you. If you're planning to watch it, don't read or look up too much or it may spoil it for you.
