He should have every chance to redeem himself. Multiple chances as far as I am concerned.

But he doesn’t need to be an NHL head coach to do that.

Then what do you want him to do? Work with younger players?

It’s not like Darryl has some kind of special unicorn system of hockey that no one has ever seen before. He basically deploys playoff style hockey all season long. Sure, it’s demanding and offense-first players tend to see a drop in their scoring, but at least you know they’ll be prepared for the grinding playoff style when the game changes.

Bill Zito probably saw this and realized that he needed to make big changes. So he decided to turf the coach and trade his franchise player coming off a record setting regular season.
And it resulted in the same type of hockey for Florida with worse results.

Playing grinding hockey and being grinded on daily by your head coach wears thin quickly that's why Sutter teams just try to make the playoffs instead of trying to win the conference and finish as high as you can.

Lmao go look at his history as coach.

What did he say all season and the players? Had trouble hearing him?

Hard for people to come ti grips with the fact he's a outdated coach who doesn't belong anymore.

Flames under Sutter finished in first 2/3 as head coach. The Kings were in second or third until his two final years, when they were out and he got canned. When his teams made it in it wasn't usually really a squeaker.

What? I said he deserves a second chance, which doesn’t equate to second chance as an NHL coach.

I assume you’re suggesting that because it would be a bad idea. Which is interesting then that you’d be supportive of him coaching.

That's what I said his message is just try to make it it's why be brings up the minnumum points it takes to get it in.

The style of hockey trying to win 1-0 and 2-1 does that just stick around in close games and hope a low percentage shot squeaks in.

Frankly, our Swedes really screwed the pooch this season so I dont have a lot of sympathy for their sadness.

Backlund was mediocre, Lindholm was subzebulon at best, Kylington was a non-factor and Markstrom was probably the worst of them all....yeah, worse than the guy who didnt even play.

Rasmus was the only one who played well and thats despite being hit by a car.

I'm telling you, this whole season was Swedish sabotage. Its a plot. A plot I tell you!

No, I'm suggesting it because if you take away his career as a pro coach, that's what he's left with. Which presumably you'd be less happy with.

His mistake was a bad reaction to something that already happened, mainly because his priorities were screwed up. Assuming that was the only thing, and assuming he's rehabilitated, I'd be prepared to see a second chance.

It depends on the team, really. If Lindholm and Backlund are gone and Sutter doesn't want to retool, then maybe you may try to see if you can get a good coach with a bad history will come on board to replace the talent lost by Sutter. However, if Kadri is your best centre then I don't think that they are going to be in the playoffs anyways regardless of the coach. Perhaps Quenville isn't interested in a retool or rebuild.

Naturally, I am assuming that Lindholm and Backlund are traded for picks or prospects. I doubt that they get players of equal quality back, particularly if Treliving is not the one doing the deals. Prior to Treliving, the Flames had trouble coming out on top of trades.
