Because he has a sunny personality and is chatty, people mistakenly draw the conclusion that Conroy is a light weight.

The argument is that Huberdeau needs to have lines created around him and players need to elevate him to have success, not that the other players on the line won't have modest gains as a result. Obviously if one player is doing really well on the line, there will be scraps to be picked up by the others. But we're not talking superstar levels of increases here.

Bennett's goal production is down almost by half and his metrics are down all across the board. Honestly this place is so bipolar at times. A few years ago posters here were saying Bennett's success in Florida was all due to Huberdeau. Today the narrative has taken a complete 180 to Huberdeau can't elevate linemates.

I think without Weegar, Florida's metrics as a whole are down across the board

Maybe the narrative is that Huberdeau could not elevate Lucic, which is fair, he could not. Neither could McDavid.

Seems like a big if. Treliving seemingly not convinced he has enough autonomy in his current job. Owners seemingly reluctant to give their GM’s that autonomy. So I guess I’m not sure a change in title changes that dynamic.

Exactly…
Hard to imaging a 6th round pick, with over 1000 NHL games played, does not have a serious edge or drive in his personality.

2009-2010 was a aged out team spinning their wheels with no young prospects in the pipeline coming up it was headed towards dark times anyways having a couple of Sutters in charge only helped.
Its not a overreaction to fire a coach who alienated a fan base, was sending messages to management with his poor roster decisions, decided to turn a 115 player into Travis Moen and took shots at players through the media all season. Not to mention not practicing a critical aspect of what may have cost us the season 3 on 3 overtime.
This is Mike Keenan level stuff he did this year.

The Treliving-Pens theory is a little less plausible considering they punted Burke in addition to Hextall

Taking a while to get to 5000
|
So, I just read the Ducks are moving on from Dallas Eakins.
Nightmare fuel:
Sutter becomes POHO
Bob Murray gets a contract as new GM
Eakins becomes new head coach
Murray was GM in Anaheim, I believe he hired Eakins, then brought in Sutter to consult and mentor Eakins. Sutter became GM here and had a hand in hiring Murray as a pro scout.
We're through the looking glass people.

I’m not the hugest Tre fan, but having him back is likely the best option. Let’s face it - the best GM candidates are going to want full autonomy and they know that’s not happening in Calgary. So while Tre might not be a superstar, he’s likely the best option the Flames are going to get given ownership’s meddling ways.

I want Tre back as GM or POHO.
I want Sutter and Muller relieved of their coaching duties.
I want us to make decisions with the future in mind this offseason. We need to get younger and not lose valuable assets for nothing.
I don’t feel like this is too much to ask for.
*In a perfect world we would trade Kadri too.

On 32 Thoughts from yesterday, Friedman said he had received some push back on whether or not these two have been extended.

Well, he would be a first time rookie GM
He did coattails Iggy.
Conroy if he becomes a GM would be a cheap and pray option

Conroy was at .60 points per game with Calgary
He elevated to .63 points per game during his two seasons in LA between his stints in Calgary.
