I increasingly wonder if there's a dressing room problem not named Sutter.

I don't think it's a fractured room, when I read between the lines. Weegar went out of his way to say "It's a great group of guys".
Lewis (a Sutter favorite for no good reason) so far is the only player I noticed saying he wants to be back.
Clear to me, the owners need to eat the $8m and fire Sutter immediately.

Toffoli, Stone, Zadorov, Stecher, Hanifin, Lucic and Tanev all leaned to wanting to be here.

It's a sign of an inept organization.
The players aren't stupid. They know the franchise is acting without direction, the world's worst arena, a coach who's worn out his welcome.
Like employees of any businesses that's operating like a tire fire, they feel it and it sucks. They've given a lot to it and feel like it's become pointless.
We make fun of the organization up North all the time, but this should be telling to those who think we're something special and have their heads in the sand.
A massive overhaul is absolutely needed now to rebuild positively and hope around the franchise.

All of the defensemen seem to like Sutter - they all took big steps under him

Ultimately all this team needed more finishing and better goaltending. I'm not sure why you'd blow it up when they're two addressable issues and you have internal solutions (wolf and coronato) that can be part of that solution.

There is enough smoke there is something. But not sure we'll find out anytime soon.

There's more assumptions in that statement than Marky let in goals on the first shot.
I'll wait and see.

At least they're being honest unlike those lying liars Johnny and Tkachuk.
I bet there will be some really interesting exit interviews...

There will be a few who are black and white when it comes to a player's desires. A player feels like he needs a change then some fans hate the player. There is very little understanding from those kinds of people.
However, in this situation, I think a lot of people are upset, not so much at the players, but at the situation that two longtime fan favorites are likely to play out their contract and leave. Backlund and Lindholm are two guys who fans love and would love to stay here until they retire.

He doesn’t have a contract.
The team missed the playoffs.
Nobody wants to come back.
He could get a better job at any moment.
The vibe around the whole situation is toxic.
No young significant forward prospects coming up. Coronato doesn’t count, he ain’t Gaudreau level, and that’s what they need.
All conjecture.
But I wouldn’t talk to the press today if I was him.
Like, “make me”.

I’m not peddling anything - just commenting based on my observations.
I’d guess Darryl was probably either told “don’t talk today” or doesn’t want to because he doesn’t have to. The local media will come running if they do another press conference on Tuesday or whatever.
