I think my favourite D&D things in the movie were the
A fun movie overall, far better than they could have probably gotten away with, hopefully that means a few more.

Makes me want to go back and read some of the Forgotten Realms novels from my childhood. I'm scared I'll ruin my childhood but I'm also curious as to how bad they are or aren't.

Enjoyed the Mario movie as my childhood came to life. Was a fun movie and shouldn’t be taken seriously. Critics are way too harsh for something that is supposed to pay tribute to nostalgia and be light hearted.

R.A Salvatore doesn't lose luster. I can't think of a better person who can write a fight sequence. Not a single one.

I also enjoyed The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Was a fun ride packed with references and nostalgia with just enough story to hold it all together. This is at its best when doing silly game inspired set pieces and at its worst when trying to be serious. Favourite part was the use of music, taking the classic game sounds and incorporating into a film score. I also enjoyed Jack Black as Bowser, who stole every scene he was in. Made me wonder if more Bowser scenes were added at the expense of others, especially Luigi with Charlie Day somewhat wasted. Also would have liked to see more universe building. 7/10

Caught up on ELLE last night. I can see why it's sort of polarizing, but I really liked it.

Danny Boyle's late 2000s sci-fi movie Sunshine doesn't get enough love. I can't remember if it got lost during the dawn of the comic book movie genre, or was just not well received? Solid film, super cast, 8/10.

Definitely was under the radar. It didn’t have much of a marketing push in its time, and was a little before “viral” was a thing. But yeah Sunshine is a gem.
It also gets some flack for being basically a perfect first 3/4 of a movie while the final act sinks it a bit. Which I honestly agree with. It could have had a better final act.

I finally watched this a few weeks ago too, and loved the first 3/4's as well but really didn't dig the final act. Gorgeous movie for sure.

Took the family (kids are 8 and 11) to Mario today. I thought it was awesome. I'll need a rewatch to catch all the nostalgia. I thought the pacing was a little off - it couldve been a little longer and built up some stuff better. I also didnt like Princess Peach. They made her too bad-ass, and was never really in need of saving (which defeats a bunch of original plot points of the games).
8/10 for me. bonus points for watching it in DBOX. First time watching in the Seton theatre, man, its beautiful in there.

Mario was awesome, it should win the Oscar for best score.
Peach being badass is canon since Mario Bros 2 and her overpowered float jump.

He was effectively portrayed in the movie.

Was a big nintendo guy was never that big of a fan of Super Mario and Mario Kart.
I actually liked the Atari one better and played way more of that as a kid.
That said, you can take all my money if they ever do a Dr. Mario movie! I listen to that score in my car every week.

When I went to see the D&D movie the theatre I was in was one of the "ScreenX" ones.. they say 270° of view, I thought it would be some kind of dome or something, but no they just have additional projectors that show extra wide content on the walls of the theatre.
Stupidest thing I've seen in a while. It only looks somewhat normal if you're in the middle, otherwise everything looks distracting and distorted. The 4 extra projectors throw off a ton more light which makes the main screen look washed out, worse than if they'd left the house lights on.
Fortunately it's only on for part of the movie.. unfortunately it's for the big action sequences.
As a gimmick I much prefer 3D over ScreenX and I don't really like 3D. Hopefully it dies a quick death. I didn't even choose the showing and theatre with ScreenX, somehow ended up there though.

If you like Nic Cage, go see Renfield now.
I had so much fun. Whoever cast him as Dracula deserves praise.
