I think if I were Jesus I would prefer to be remembered during happier times. Like why not a picture of me playing soccer, or hanging with my friends grabbing a pint of ale, or standing in front of a house I just built looking all proud with my tool belt on or something. Seems pretty rude to be so laser focused on what was - without a doubt - the ####tiest time of his short life.

More issues with the Calgary Lab Services privatization to Dynalife. What a fricking gong show that has been. What a wonderful improvement this has been... thanks UCP.

It's so that you feel guilty every time you look up. Part of the indoctrination is to induce shame so you can beg for forgiveness from those in charge. It's all a power play.

Off topic, but is there a worse/more useless app than that one? I tried it, thinking it would be good to connect with some neighbours and know what's happening in the community and such. Instead it was just people promoting their cottage industries mixed with Facebook. Ridiculous.

NextDoor is awful, I kept it for maybe a week or two before getting rid of that crap. I found it was constant busybodies complaining about things and reporting “suspicious activity” that usually turned out to be one of the neighbourhood kids walking home from school while wearing a hoodie.

I've had some good experiences with it. Aside from the spam, I get a lot of pleas for help for lost dogs and keys in that app tho. Some useful stuff when its people giving away stuff and don't want to do a garage sale or when there's a neighbourhood break in/porch pirate.
But yea, needs a better way to filter out people trying to monetize their own stuff.

People should be way more pissed about the cratering quality of service. Used to have no problems just booking a blood test online and showing up for the appointment, it would get served on time and no issues with results. Now it's wait for hours. Can't imagine what more complicated cases like the lady in the article had.

And you know, I mean maybe it’s bad, but there are definitely people that have suffered way more than him. I wouldn’t put him up there with the great martyrs of the world.

Judging by the number of houses in my neighborhood that put up big flags hanging off the front of their porch, with sayings like "Trudeau must resign" or "F trudeau".... good luck with that.
It's also the same houses that have a TON of toys that overfill their garage and their driveway, so we can only guess what industry they are in and why they are why they are.

That's what's so befuddling about people falling all over themselves fretting about his death. It was literally the standard issue torture/death sentence of the time and place. Thousands of people went down that way. It's a big meh.

This is pretty much quintessential Jesus and it shows him just hanging out with his bros:

I'd respect him more if it was a round table. I'm not a fan of people who act like they're king #### and the rest of us are their supporting characters.

Pretty sure this was just an artist interpretation of the last supper and wanted to use a landscape orientation. That or the holiest of people didn't care for democratic, functional design.

A lot of the fixation on his torture and death is due to early Christians being persecuted by similar means. Martyrdom is baked into the earliest interpretations because it was relatable. Interestingly enough there was a lot of energy put into justifying why the sacrifice of Jesus was so important after Christianity became the state religion of Rome.

And yet if somebody dies in modern times defending their beliefs, they’re labeled as “insane” or “crazy”. What’s the big difference between Jesus and David Koresh? Though I think maybe the general opinion of Koresh has changed.

Wait, you think that people have changed their opinion on Koresh to think that he wasn't insane or crazy?
