Tre’s gotta go. Two second round appearances in 9 years? Gross.

This 2+ year old thread needs a new poll, or maybe just a new thread would be better.

Tree and Sutter should go. Fresh GM hires the new coach.

my sentiments exactly. Signing free agents from successful teams will never work,,, start from the ground up

Conroy seems like the choice to me he was in the role when Feaster was here and kept during the Burke/Treliving era. I have no idea where Pascal is in terms of future in the org but the farm team has improved under him.
Murray, Futa, Lombardi would be at the top of my “Sutter approved” list. Murray already in the Org gives him the leg up.

I totally forgot about Murray. I wouldn't mind him taking over, even though he's a DB, and I wouldn't mind any of Maloney, Futa, or Lombardi. I just can't picture Conny in the GM's seat- just too happy-go-lucky or something....

Sutter and Murray played and captained with the Blackhawks...
Sutter becomes coach of Flames in Winter of 2021. Murray joins Flames as scout in February 2022.
Hmm.....

I wanted Treliving gone for a while and he holds his share of the blame for where the organization is. The last off season suggested that his hands really have been tied by ownership, and I don't have much hope that switching out GMs, coaches, and players will make much of a difference so long as Edwards takes a hands-on approach and insists on a few games of playoff revenue every year at all costs

Francis just confirmed on the radio that a new contract was offered to Treliving some time ago and it was not accepted. He also confirmed that it was not Treliving that told him this.
This is news to me but maybe it's been mentioned before. This is very bad news in my opinion. I don't see a better option available.

I personally think Treliving has had some warts but has generally made the right decisions, especially at the time of each move without the benefit of hindsight. I’d consider him a top GM in this league and would do what I can to keep him around.
With that said, I’d they do move away from him, or if he is not willing to re-sign, you have to believe that happens in fairly short order after the season ends. If he’s leaving of his own accord, wouldn’t they walk him to the door immediately and ask him to spend the remainder of his contract at home?

Treliving is definitely keeping his options opens if he rejected an offer. He could also be negotiating some more security and authority to make decisions.
say what you want about him, but he is respected around the league and probably has built quite the network. There is value in that.

His contract might not end with the season, like a player. That said, he probably would want to leave sooner if he plans on joining another team, so as to be able to participate in the draft. I’ve seen a few cases where a GM joins a team just before and is not able to be a part either because of obligations of secrecy to his old team or simply because he hasn’t had time to sit with the new scouts.

I don't think everyone wants him gone and would actually bet if we started a poll the majority would rather see him return.

When the Leafs get bounced in the first round, Tre slots in there once Dubas is canned.

That’s what I mean though. Surely they wouldn’t let him just keep showing up to his office right up to the last day of his contract. If it expires on July 1 for example, if I’m Murray Edwards I set an internal timeline with Treliving after the season is over to get an extension done. If it can’t be done in 1-2 weeks (that’s all I would give) then you ask Brad to stay home for the rest of his contract due to the need to complete a search for a new GM and ideally get them in place before the end of May so they can handle the draft and free agency.

Treliving could end up in Pittsburgh too.
Hextall likely out after this season. Burke is there in the role he had in Calgary where Treliving was hired.
