Given that I cheered for the Flames and they shat the bed, does that mean I should now cheer for the Greasers and hope that the same thing happens?

Ugh. Just hoping for them to get wiped now. That's my playoffs.

Edmonton will always be no good...but the hockey team isn't no good anymore and McDavid is the best player of this generation.
Not here in this thread. It's never time.

I expect McDavid will go down as the best player to never win a cup. Unless he leaves.

Personally I think these threads have reached the end of their lifespan. This organization and fan base continually comparing itself to the Oilers is part of the problem.

I want nothing more than the Oilers to lose to the Kings in the first round this year, and for McDavid to ask for a trade.

But I do think even if they lose they were a true contender this year, and I think this year and next year are going to be the Oilers best chance to win a cup with 97 and 29.

No it isn't. They're rivals.

Like Boston vs Montreal or Pittsburgh vs Philadelphia.

It's one part of the fun that comes with being a Flames' fan (which, as a reminder, is just for fun) and it's completely absurd to call it part of "the problem."

The Oilers could (they can't) win multiple Stanley Cups (LOL) while the Flames wallow at the bottom of the league for a decade... and the Oilers would still suck.

Get into it, or get over it. These threads are eternal because the last time the Oilers made it further than the Flames people still whined about how these threads were passé. Guess what? They lived on, people still had fun, and the world kept turning.

McDavid is garbage and a worse center than Lindholm. Fight me.

I honestly think that anyone that thinks McPoints is the best player because of "points" should have a flag next to their username so I know the rest of their hockey takes are certainly questionable.

I tend to agree with this. They were fun 10 years ago when the Oilers were actually losing games and giving us material.

These days it's just cringey posts trying to justify idiotic opinions about how the Oilers aren't a good team (they are) and how McDavid isn't actually the best player in the world (he is, and it's not even close).

It would be okay if the Flames were in the same class as them but the Flames aren't even close to the Oilers and they won't be for a very long time. That's why I think it's the perfect time for a rebuild. We aren't beating these guys any time soon. It's less embarrassing to miss the playoffs when you're actively rebuilding than it is finishing in 9th after signing veteran players to long-term deals.

There will be a time when these threads are fun again, but right now is not the time. I don't even really read them much anymore.

Guess we have to close the thread because a couple guys who think it’s only fun to punch down aren’t having fun anymore.

Again, feel free not to participate.

I realize being a Flames fan is serious business, and there are threads for serious hockey minds like yourself.

Let us have our fun.

I don’t give a crap how many McPoints he and Drai rack up. Edmonton is and forever will be no good, and these threads will always bring me much joy. F*** that garbage team.

Is that you, Spector? Isn’t this a reworking of one of your columns from about 5 years ago?

Weren't all the Flames-Oiler games extremely close this season, and that was still with bad markstrom?

When vladar was in they beat them too.

They were never outclassed this season.

Avs should give them a reality check this evening. The team that is actually a class above everyone, including the Oilers.

Lol this is the Oilers. They have wasted 7 years of two of the best forwards in the league. If the Flames had one of Draisaitl or McDavid they'd have a cup. I look forward to when McDavid and Draisaitl take their talents elsewhere.

When they have to build their team again through competent drafting and GMing and not golden lottery tickets falling into their laps they're gonna be soo ####ed.

Incoming decade of darkness sequel, but without the ping pong balls aligning.

That's too far ahead for me. For me, I want to see this in the very, very near future.

Exactly. If they didn't win the McDavid lotto then they'd be worst than the Flames. Historic season by him and they still have enough questions marks to go out in the first round.

Maybe, we'll see.

But regardless, it doesn't change the fact that Edmonton, Edmonton fans, Edmonton media, Kevin Lowe, and the Oilers, are no good.
