Predictable outcome, but the season wasn't lost by this game. It was by getting swept by the Hawks. The blown leads to MTL and OTT. The piss poor efforts against other bottom feeders. Markstrom sucking. Not being able to score a damn OT or shootout goal for most of the season. Your superstar declining at a historical rate. And your supposed top 3 depth down the middle turning to top 3 junk down the middle.

Obviously Ritchie in the SO was a mind boggling move. Especially when Sutter has died on the hill of riding Markstrom as long as he did by constantly saying you put the games in the hands of your stars. If that's the motto, then yeah, where the living #### is your best clutch player in Tyler Foli?

In the press conference the coaches were saying stats 'n' odds to put Ritchie in, but where was that mentality when Vladar was riding hot for a bit and the team kept going back to Markstrom. Naw, just own it Sutter. It was a gut feeling and it was the wrong one.

FYI you were looking at the wrong Ritchie. Nick was 2/5, now 2/6. Had taken 1 attempt in the last 5 years.

Part of me wants the city to boycott the last game.

Other than the potential of rookies having to play their game in an empty arena, it might let the team know how people feel.

This is an exceptionally tuff team to like.

The future is uncertain. That’s the best I can come up with for next year.

Can’t say there’s much to look forward to.

Maybe Huberdeau will be better next year.

Maybe Kadri, who seems to hate it here, will demand a trade.

Maybe Marstrom will remember how to play goal.

Maybe the power play will be a notch better than inept.

Meh.

Between a mediocre flames team and oilers being perennial playoff team, this is a most bleak future

Let Kadri demand a trade and tell his agent to go work out a deal with another team where the Flames don't have to kick in any assets. Not going to be easy.

I’ve donated my tix to Kids up Front. The Dome is the last place I want to be tomorrow.

My jaw dropped when I saw Ritchie lineup to take the shot. And my expression didn't change until after Novak scored.

Darryl, I'm afraid, is the problem. That #### he pulled with Pelletier, and just constant deployment head scratchers.

The bigger worry now, and Rhett confirmed in last night, Darryl has a direct relationship with the owner. I think chances are higher than zero that Brad is gone, and Murray would have no choice but to consult with his buddy and probably his most trusted hockey person, Darryl.

We'll get 4 lines of Ritchies, Lewis' and Lucics next year.

Maybe. I wouldn't assume Sutter will play them. Likely the last game for Lucic and Lewis both with the Flames and quite possibly in the NHL. Not sure who comes out...maybe Ritchie and Duehr? But then who do you go to in the shootout?!

Wonder if Colorado has a short playoff we can work something out.

Ya I think whether Darryl is back will be totally up to Darryl.

I suspect Tre will resign by the end of the week.

That's why small sample sizes are disregarded.
I get what you are saying but I bet none of us would score lol. Not even if we had gone 1090 in a row.

Making playoffs 2 out of last 5 (3 of 6 including this year) is perennial now?

I don't think you know what this word means.

As for the Flames, I remember even a few years back, I was a pretty big Flames and hockey fan.

But now after last night where I tuned in just to check the score, I've realized that I'm just not that big of a fan anymore.

I mean I don't much cotton to the current style of pro hockey.

But, the lack of sustained success by the Flames has something to do with it.

Its like being married to someone that you just know is going to let you down.

So there's a certain relief to this being over for the next 6 month.

I've literally taken old yeller behind the barn on his last walk for the year.

Why would Tre need to resign? His contract is up.

What a turd of a team, Huberdeau and Kadri won't bring any sustained leadership or winning to the Flames organization.. sorry.

Glad my other team is just a known tanker with no expectations.

I don't know if The Flames will get rid of Tre or Sutter, it's their bed to lay in - I say they get one more year to iron out the roster and see what happens.

Right, I meant to say announce he does not wish to be back.

It will be good for both Tre and the Flames to part ways.

See that's the thing with the likes of dinoc7, jg13, etc. on this board. There are so many unconditionally optimistic posters that are so quick to jump down the throat of those with less optimistic viewpoints. They're as bad as anyone.

I predicted this months ago, as did others, and was shunned by the positivity mob.

Do we want to look up all the posts during the recent run from these same people posting something along the lines of "where is (so and so) today?! Haven't seen him post in a while!" Where are you in reply to those posts Bingo? Seems pretty victory-lappy to me too...

Fans have every right to be pissed off with this franchise. We're mediocre to the core. I'd love to have been wrong about my prediction, but I wasn't. The Flames are predictably mediocre almost every season.
