Default Late to the party

Sutter was late to his press conference. Francis indicated it was because he was talking to the team. A scribe asked Hubby what Sutter said. He said Sutter said nothing - he was in the crapper since the game ended and then ran out to the press conference.

Ritchie is a plug.

Said it last game, I’ll say it again

Should’ve had Rasmus shoot

Ritchie tried a move that he’s scored on before and it didn’t work. Backlund nervously bobbled the puck and freaked out and quickly put a half assed attempt on net on his chance.

Flames lost the season in January, where they let teams hang around too long in games they were dominating, by not getting the amount of goals that they should’ve given how much they controlling games in the first half, 2 periods, or entire games. Poor goaltending didn’t help, nor did the copious amount of posts and crossbars, but they lacked confidence overall by not seeing their domination translate on the scoreboard.

I think when I did this in Feb, you could easily give the Flames 7 more points in January alone, by not putting any more or less effort in, but getting one more save or hitting one less post…nevermind the coin flips that are shootouts and overtimes.

Win 3 more overtime or shootout games over the past 81 games and only lose (a still terrible) 14 of them, not 17, and we are ready for Round 1.

I’m sure he’s a nice boy, and a good guy and all that. Not personal. But as a professional athlete Kadri should be ashamed of himself for completely quitting on his team in the second half of the season - capped off by that pathetic wet fart of a shootout attempt with the season on the line. I will give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he just hates the coach, and not that he doesn’t want to be here (he signed as a free agent after all), but man what a pathetic display. I’m sure he’s feeling ok with his massive contract and cup ring, but I sincerely hope he tosses and turns all summer in shame.

Gotta say, the first post of this thread still gets a chuckle out of me. Nothing beats a well executed GIF.

Markstrom created the chance for Nashville on a silver platter for the Afanasyev goal. I don't blame him for the referee bounce thing.

He better be Sean Monahan levels of injured to justify his performance.

Isn’t it crazy the Flames just lost to a team that had 14 guys in the lineup tonight who played in the AHL this year? Sucks to not be in the playoffs but the Flames and the loser points didn’t really deserve it.

I hate Kadri so much. The epitome of a selfish player. Team needs to ditch him somehow, some way.

Team with a lot of young talent, who got a kings ransom at the trade deadline, still have one of the best goalies and defenceman in the league.

And we were afraid to make a trade at the deadline, still can't beat them. We go backwards as so many franchises do the opposite.

Fair enough, but I think it could be both.
It's a pretty big indictment of the team's talent that Ritchie was our best option at that point in the shootout.
I think I remember Sutter making comments about the lack of offensive talent pretty early in the season, so that would all kind of fit together.

I was being sarcastic about Markstrom...you should know he is one of my favs but he cost the Flames the season...not because of this game

Markstrom is very capable of a rebound year - he’s done it before and tonight was a fine performance overall.
Markstrom is will be 34 next season. The only time he gave us above average goaltending in a season, was the same season he gave us that atrocious Oilers series. No goalie over the age of 31 has spearheaded a Cup win since 2011. Kuemper and Crawford were 31 and 30. Outside of that,

Quick - 26/28
Murray - 21/22
Holtby - 28
Binnington - 26
Vasilevskiy - 25/26

And Wolf is in the wings.
To accomplish what? The Flames organization, if they even choose to give Wolf an NHL game, eill pidgeonhole him into a backup goalie role, and then create a narrative to justify crappy usage, even if that narrative is just a self-fulfilling prophecy based on arbitrary decisions.

Quote:
Lucic is likely done with a replacement to come from the farm (contracts almost demand this).
This is the Flames. Their awful pro scouting and compulsion to find crappy vets in the offseason is a given.

Quote:
Mangiapane is still young and can also rebound. Kids like Duehr and Pelletier look good.
Duehr looking good is about as convincing as 2015 Bouma looking good. And for Pellettier or any other legitimate prospect to get an opportunity we need a coaching change.

Quote:
the D corps is very solid.
Is it though? The Flames don't have a #1D, and Noah Hanifin lacks the awareness and execution to be playing top pairing minutes for any team in meaningful games. Andersson's point totals are inflated by his role, but he's not even Jon Klingberg tier.

Both the Nashville attempts went through Markstrom if they squeak in it doesn't even come down to Ritchie.
