While I doubt this actually would go anywhere, it’s terrible news for the ANDP if it picks up legs.

This is probably another attempt by the Liberals to muddy the water and to pick a fight.
Moe and Smith both came out with the attempt to pick a fight with their sovereignty acts, then they sat back and challenged Trudeau to a fight. Trudeau isn't picking the fight, he's calling their bluff.

Same thing will happen with the CBC and UCP re. the "defamation" of Danielle Smith: self-imposed deadline will pass and nothing will have changed.

Open-ended, maybe rhetorical, question: when's the last time we had a federal MOJAG who wasn't a dunce? Good god what a dumb thing for Lametti to even insinuate.

What about Wilson-Raybould? I don't recall too much idiocy when she was in the role and obviously she stood up to Trudeau and those actions that got her canned might be overshadowing my recollection of her prior work.

I have a low opinion of Wilson-Raybould, for reasons I've outlined before and don't really want to get into again...

The Libs won't take this threat too far. They aren't going to alienate Newfoundland and possibly other Maritime provinces.

The Act only applies to the western provinces.

Making up #### again I see, the letter made no reference to a 7 day deadline.

If I was Global I would back up the brinks truck, but I still wonder why Sam has no stories forthcoming…..

Your suggesting they would settle?

They can’t payout damages unless forced or they become useless as people will just threaten them.

No, I don’t think they will settle. I think they will lose the case.

I don’t even think Dong ever files an actual suit let alone gets to trial even if the last article overreached (which I think you are making a incorrect conclusion from what the G+M said the person in the government said)

Depending on how much you believe he knowingly help students circumvent election law in making him the liberal nominee. It sounds like this was reported to the government. Unless you believe that is also false. Then you need to ask why Vincent Ke isn’t or at least hasnt announced a defamation suit.

Ot why the globe and mail also has published a lot of specific information from the same sources just not the Michael’s part.

So unless Dong wants to under oath testify he didn’t have a role in getting himself nominated then he can never be put under oath.

Board of the Pierre Elliot Trudeau foundation resigns over a large donation made in 2016 which apparently will not be good for optics. New Trudeau scandal is about to drop?

Quote:
In recent weeks, the political climate surrounding a donation received by the Foundation in 2016 has put a great deal of pressure on the Foundation’s management and volunteer Board of Directors, as well as on our staff and our community.

The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation is an independent, non-partisan scholarship organization created with broad support in the House of Commons in 2002.

The circumstances created by the politicization of the Foundation have made it impossible to continue with the status quo, and the volunteer Board of Directors has resigned, as has the President and CEO.

Three directors have agreed to remain on an interim basis so that the Foundation can continue to meet its obligations pending Board renewal, including towards its Scholars, Mentors and Fellows.

We would like to thank Pascale Fournier for her work as President and CEO over the past five years, as well as all the members of the Board of Directors.

Politicization of the foundation? Are they fricking kidding? It's not supposed to be politicized. But it became a political tool as soon as Trudeau became PM entirely as a result of Trudeau dragging and scapegoating foundation members within the very foundation that has his name in the mud and where it apparently became a slush fund for party favours.

The irony is there were plenty of stories back in 2016 about the 1 million donation and caused rifts within the foundation at the time. Of course back then it completely sputtered out and brushed under the carpet as any Liberal scandal does.

Suddenly a few weeks ago, this very same 1 million dollar donation suddenly becomes a hot potato

So they suddenly gave back a donation that was vehemently defended back in 2016, that they had no obligation to do so a few weeks ago, and now everyone is jumping ship, again with zero obligation or pressure to do so claiming political pressure? What pressure?

Not copies of the actual Acts, but here are the references to them which contain links to the actual Act (s).

Right. I thought that there was a little more information with respect to a new act. I am familiar with the 1930 act. I have a really hard time believing that there will be any movement on this.

Why is it terrible news for the ANDP? It sounds like a total gift - the absolute perfect way for Notley to demonstrate her independence from any federal party by absolutely pillorying them for even suggesting something so absurd. I have no idea if Smith has commented but if not it'd be worth being first.

From the notice of Libel filed by Dong's lawyers on March 31st

https://twitter.com/user/status/1641917838658084866

I wonder if the resignations of the Trudeau foundation board offers a way for David Johnson to step aside from his role in the election interference investigations.
