I wonder how her calls with the leaders of the Green Part of Alberta and Communist Party of Alberta went.

Would be interesting if Pawlowski releases a video of the entire phone call so we could validate Smith's "context".

"He has some extreme views that I disagree with completely"...but I told him I respect and have been watching his advocacy for years.

This is what happens when you lie, particularly when you are bad at it(as she is at everything). There is no consistency to your position.

I finally did it. I got off my ass and went door knocking for my NDP candidate.

It was a good experience. Met some people, gave out some pamphlets, collected some data and enjoyed the wonderful weather.

If you're on the fence about volunteering - just do it! It's way easier than I thought it would be

Just curious, are you in Calgary, and how are you finding the reception? Pretty 50/50, or leaning one way?

Yep, SE Calgary.

I would estimate my observations today as:

20% Never NDP
60% Undecided, accepted NDP pamphlets
20% already voting NDP

I was very surprised at how low the "never NDP" number was. That being said, about 90% of houses didn't answer or weren't home. I blame the long weekend.

I've been canvassing for the NDP in one of the SW ridings and while I'm not entering the ratings into their app (which would likely give me more of an unbiased opinion), I'd give it 60/40 NDP. That number could be high for the NDP because people may not be answering their door once they see that we are NDP canvassers. The number of doorbell cameras are surprisingly high - to me, at least.

I've been canvassing for a number of weekends and I wouldn't say the number of "non-answers/not home" isn't any different this weekend than others.

Most people just don't answer the door anymore. We have a large window beside our door and I'm usually sitting on the couch watching tv or in the kitchen cooking when the door knockers come around. We'll make direct eye with each other but I'm not opening the door to have a chat. Most of them are good and understanding and move on to the next house but a few times they will ring the doorbell a second time. It is tough to resist the urge to give them the finger at that point.

Really? You make eye contact with them? I find this incredibly arrogant. Hide all you want, but if you make eye contact, spend literally 20 seconds at the door to say hello and that you don’t have time to speak and wish them well.

Nobody is that busy.

I should be hiding in my home? Nonsense. They are disturbing me on my time, in my home so they don't deserve any recognition from me.

Idk, man. Seems a little rude. I'd think a little wave while you shake your head and mouth 'no thank you' would be a better play (karmically speaking).

Saying hello to a Jehovah Witness is the last thing you want to do. Once they have you they won't stop pushing their religion. Sometimes you have to be rude to get rid of them.

considering the fact we're talking about political door knockers, I'm sure his rudeness has nothing to do with religion.

You don't think it's a bit of a dick move to make eye contact with whomever is knocking at your door and then do nothing?

He could be like most people who don't answer, and just ignore the knock without staring them down to show who the alpha is.
