Its interesting to me, look I'm not saying that Season 3 is on the same level as season 1. But this season especially is about establishing Mando lore and stories.
It also seems like each system is about a Mandalorian. Season 1 was focused on Din. Season 2 slightly shifted with Boba Fett on a redemptive hero's journey. Season 3 is all about Bo.
I don't mind that.
I didn't mind a side quest episode that was more light, because we know the Filoni formula is a crushing blow in the last two episodes.
We know that the "Imperial/First Order" threat is coming. I believe that the whole rehabilitation of the ex imperials is about to backfire badly on the ineffectual New Republic, as I believe that the First Order used it as a way to infiltrate and subvert the New Republic with the intent to rot it from the inside.
We're going to see an Imperial attack, the Republic will be non responsive or ignore it, and we'll see a rise of a very credible enemy hopefully in the last two episodes.
I mean last season ended optimistically. Luke collected his student, Moff Gideon had been captured, things were going good. I believe that the end of this season will be a shattering defeat for Din.
Spoiler!
Does Grogu get a Jedi or Mandalorian funeral?

The very first episode of the first season was a side quest. The entire show is nothing but side quests.
Yeah, I would have said the show is fundamentally a Western where the roaming gunslinger ventures town to town and helps get rid of whatever criminal is causing problems.

Yeah, well....Kennedy's head is about as close to being impaled on a pike as possible.
You've got movies that got critically panned (albeit still made serious box office bank) and some flagship shows but both Filoni and Favreau have complained about her meddling....
I dont get how Kennedy is still around. There are rumours that she was hand-picked by George Lucas, as though that has some weight?
So what?

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
Let's be honest. No one knows what the hell Kennedy does.
It's one of those situations where anytime something happens that people don't like, they blame her, and anytime something happens they do like, it must have happened against her will.
We see the same thing all the time with Gary Bettman and the NHL.

Yeah.
Like I said in a previous post....the last Trilogy sucked. It also generated Billions of dollars in revenue. How are you going to be upset with an employee for that?
What are the parameters?

The Kennedy hate always makes me laugh. She's an executive producer, meaning she basically works to secure financing, distribution, and oversees things like budgets, schedules, deadlines, etc.. Yes, she likely has input into the hiring of writers and directors, but I doubt she's actually physically involved with any of the creative aspects like screenwriting, directing, acting, cinematography, or effects.
I still see a lot of comments on youtube saying things like "how does this woman still have a job" or "I refuse to watch anything SW related if Kennedy continues to be involved" and other dumb comments. How does she still have a job? Oh geez, I don't know. How 'bout the fact that she's been involved with some of the biggest blockbusters and franchises over the last 40+ years, which have made billions of dollars in revenue. You may not like some of the new SW films or TV shows, but they've all made tons of money and have been massive successes.
I mean, other than Star Wars, have any of these people actually looked at her filmography? Like holy s***, the woman is clearly very successful at her job, despite what a bunch of internet dorks might say.

KK decides which projects get made, their vision and who makes them. She is literally at the creative helm of all of Lucasfilm. There is no one else that even comes close to the level of creative authority she has.
She is also completely unaware that the extended universe even exists, or is at least deliberately ignorant about it.
All of the great films she worked on would have been great without her.
I haven't watched this week's episode yet but hearing it's a no-stakes cartoon-y side story featuring Lizzo and Jack Black isn't exactly filling me with confidence...

Parts of it were cringy and parts were cool (episode 1 battle droids, a droid bar and Mando clans meeting)
But throughout the episode I was thinking "OK but where is this going and how is it relevant to the bigger plot arc?"
Only to come out thinking "that's it?"
This season has really meandered and the entire plot progression could've feasibly been accomplished in one episode.
Instead they stretched it out over 6 and now have 2 episodes to do all its meaningful/relevant story progression.
Honestly can't believe we haven't seen gideon yet.
Ahsoka looks like it will take Mando's place as the "show to watch" moving forward, as it appears to be directly setting up the future conflict with new big bad Thrawn.
Will likely involve Luke and Mando in some capacity as well.

I didn't hate this last episode but it was really questionable.
A droid bar?
The entire part with Lizzo and Jack Black... I was expecting a crossover into Marvel and we were going to see Thor and the Guardians. I didn't like it.
Finally we got into the Mandoverse but that didn't last long because the fairytale world took up most of the screen time.

One thing this show is doing better than any live action star wars before it is building out the broader Star Wars universe and different planets, species, and even the droids IMO.
Storylines are taking a bit longer to build - but I think it might be a good thing.
I don't think we actually see a big climax conflict with Moff this season - I think the final episode will be the reveal that Moff has been working in the shadows and has pulled together a group of supporters.
