There are two things in the standings that are 100% confirmed as of Friday. The Bruins have clinched 1st place in the Atlantic Division, Eastern Conf, and overall. The Leafs and Lightning have clinched 2nd and 3rd place respectively in the Atlantic Div with the Leafs OT loss and the Bolts loss on Thursday. These two teams will play each other in the 1st round starting in Toronto.
The rest of the teams are up in the air. The Hurricanes, Devils, and Rangers have all clinched at least 3rd place in the Metro Division, but, are in a 3 way race for 1st in the div and 2nd place in the eastern conf. The Panthers, Islanders, Penguins, and Sabres are all fighting for 7th and 8th place in the conference (the last 2 playoff spots).
The top 6 teams in the western conference are battling it out for the top spot in the conf. and their division. The Wild can't come 1st in the conf. because the Knights have the tiebreaker. The Kraken can finish anywhere from 2nd to 4th place in the Pacific Div and 7th or 8th in the conf. The Oilers and Kings could also fall to 4th in the Pacifc/ 7th in the conf. That leaves the Jets, Flames, and Predators fighting for 8th place, the final playoff spot. The Jets could also overtake the Kraken for 7th place in the conference.
