Something about Canadians and serving. Zhao double faulted 23 times!

Sebov first serve % was 78 today. Clearly a Canadian anomaly?
I am really interested to follow Sebov's rise. I usually assume that if success doesn't happen by 20 or so, it probably won't.
Obviously she is in tough vs Bencic - pretty certain she won't advance - but she has proved she belongs in these tournaments and I really am cheering that she continues to prove that age notion to be entirely garbage.

So I'm reading online that Holger Rune has finally seen the light and has parted ways with Patrick Mouratoglou. Good on you Holger.

Each successive player under his “guidance” is tolerating less time in the Moreglue stagnation phase. This is great news.

More time for Mouratoglou to focus on youtube video tutorials.

In more positive news, Dominic Thiem has won a tennis match. Gets to play Ben Shelton tomorrow in Portugal.

I also read the other day that Leylah and Taylor are going to continue playing doubles this year with the goal of trying to reach the WTA Finals. They had a good tourney at Indian Wells and a great run in Miami making the finals before losing to Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula.

Leylah advances on the Charleston clay 6-3 6-2 over Evgeniya Rodina - Gets Badosa next which obviously is not easy.

Shapo's girlfriend Mirjam Bjorkland with arguably the biggest win of her career defeating top seed Elise Mertens at the WTA tourney in Bogota 6-1 4-6 7-6. Mirjam's trajectory is quite similar to Katherine Sebov, they are both 24 and are just now playing the kind of tennis that people thought they were capable of just a few years ago. Great to see.

That's a weird one - A double foot fault by Fognini on match point.

Darn it, Leylah loses to Paula Badosa 7-5 7-6. Had a set point at 6-5 in the second set tie-break to force a 3rd set. Tough to win when you're coughing up 7 double faults.

What is it lately with Canadian players and double faults?

Also was up 4-1 in the first set... brutal to give away a match like that, but it's not like "you need to learn how to serve" is useful advice I guess.

Total points won in the match were Badosa 82, Leylah 74 - Take away those seven double faults (or a good chunk of them) and it's quite likely a third set is required.
/In case you're wondering, Badosa hit one double fault and four aces
//Leylah hit one ace

Sebov either ridiculously over matched or nerves or something but a really bad start. Ouch

Belinda Bencic just loves to play/rout Canadians these days. 6-0 6-3 over Katherine Sebov.

Was happy to see Sebov come back and play a solid second set, which was about all a person could hope for.
