That's not how you beat the Oilers. You beat the Oilers by playing as much 5 on 5 as possible. The Oilers do most of their damage on the powerplay.

Finally we have Evander Kane to help us out playing McD hard.

Eh if they lose 2 points in a regular season game but he plays more timid for the rest of the season against the Flames that's a fine trade-off imo

They are equally dangerous if you don't actually check them 5 on 5 for fear of drawing penalties. In the playoffs, the Oilers were basically running their power play at will and the Flames did nothing to stop them.

Yup you want to beat the Oilers hit them show no fear and get a good PK team. They don't score on the PP you have them, you try to avoid penalties and let McDavid and Co. run free you lose.

Yeah I don't think anyone is advocating for guys to take penalties but we got smoked because we played scared and some guys just didn't show up. We need to be aggressive and in your face like Kadri plays and make it difficult for Mcdavis. Letting him skate around unmolested won't work.

Fortunately, Kadri already showed last spring that he is ideal for that assignment.
When the Flames beat the Oilers in '86, Bob Johnson made sure he always had either Carey Wilson or Neil Sheehy out against Gretzky, and one of the two was always right in his grill. In '88, both players were traded to Hartford and the Oilers beat the Flames in a sweep.
Having the right players to make life hard for the opposing superstar is a really big deal. I think we have it now.

Facts are facts, he's taken thing too far more than a few times in his career, 6 suspensions and 3 in the playoffs, including some pretty vicious ones with regards to boarding, hits to the head (Faulk) and cross checking (Debrusk).
Obviously he plays on that line to be the player he is so far in his his career. Hopefully he walks the right side of that controlled agression line as a Flame.

They're gonna get powerplays anyway. May as well get your money's worth.

That's the thing with the Oilers being down in a game. Sure you can tip toe around trying not to commit an infraction, but they'll either score because you're not checking hard enough or the refs will eventually just call some phantom crosscheck or hold and get them to their regular amount of PP's in a game, anyways.
Better to just check really hard, making 5 on 5 as uncomfortable as possible and accept that the Oilers will get power plays when they're down, one way or another.

I suggested during training camp that I see Kadri scoring 60-70 points this year. But that line looks even better than I imagined it could. The "DNA Line" is an absolute terror that looks like it will bulldoze everyone in their way. I don't see why Kadri can't have an 80-point season this year, playing on one of the Flames two number-one lines.

Agree. That line looks incredible so far.

I don't know when exactly it will happen, but my bet is that Kadri ends up with an additional C on his jersey in the near future. The way he has carried himself since signing with Calgary is everything you'd expect from a leader, and seeing how animated and engaged he is on the bench during games makes me think it's only a matter of time until Sutter and Treliving agree

Sorry I didn't like it when it happened, didn't like that we traded away Mony and a 1st to make room for him, didn't think I'd hate it even more today than I did previously...here we are

My biggest regret in my relationship is asking my girlfriend for a Blasty Kadri jersey this past Christmas
