The Devils record this year on the back end of a back to back , before the Jets, was something like 9-0-2 or 9-2-0

Yeah, it's really not a big deal. But fans are quick to excuse teams for bad showings.
Like I said earlier, there ARE times where teams get tired - long road trip, lots of travel, lots of games. It can catch up to you. But for the most part, teams' records on B2Bs is not very different from other games.
