It's pretty funny (and also a bit sad) that we are all hoping (and even believing a little bit) that Kikuchi can be the guy to save the rotation today.

They need a good outing. You can't keep giving up 9 runs a game.

But the answer is definitely not to trade your best player for more arms.
I feel like trading top consistent players for arms is a fool's game anyway. Arms can be so unpredictable from one year to the next with few exceptions. I mean, who knows, Manoah could tank and have an awful year this season. He certainly had a bad start.

That's also why paying big money for arms is mostly filled with regrets as well. Berrios, Ryu, who knows maybe Bassitt are three big regrets or potential regrets and Kikuchi isn't looking like a great signing either (prove me wrong tonight!).

The only arm I'd pay through the nose for is Ohtani for obvious reasons since he's still pretty useful even if that arm falls off.

Yeah. It’s an extreme warning to future GM’s to not sign these guys for long term. When you look year to year the top pitchers are rarely anything three or four years later. A few savvy veterans buck that trend and inexplicably stay healthy but those are rare exceptions. Tampa Bay knows how to cut guys loose when they’re ready for the big payday while making astute deals to get the best pitching back. Learn from them.

But then who would we have as our starters

It’s easy to say don’t sign them , but that only works if you develop them like StL, TB or Atlanta

The Jays would literally have 1 starter if we didn’t trade /sign them

Fair question. You’d have to rely on draft and trades. Takes more effort but it’s the difference between making one run and going for it annually. It’s not easy though.

I’d bet decent money that Guerrero gets locked up long term in a couple of years. Probably a 10 yr deal worth $375m.

Hey, here's a new idea - let's leave a couple runners stranded!

The way things are picking up, it wouldn't surprise me if it's a bit higher. Though personally, with a guy who really has to work to keep his weight down, I wouldn't be willing to do more than 6 years. Going beyond that is crazy.

Is that the first 3 up 3 down to start the game the Jays have had so far this season?

No runs by the opposing team in the first inning. Progress!

I don’t think he is signing a 6 year deal with anyone.

Gausman pitched well but was let down by the defense

I really love that Sportsnet includes OPS+ on the stat card for each batter this year.

Is it me, or has every ball that the Jays have hit this year been right at a defender?
