Fool me once, shame on you Flames. Fool me 30 times, I'm probably mentally deranged.

I don't think they'll make it (and that's not a pessimistic view, or a hedge) but I'm enjoying the prolonged battle as long as I can, and hoping/happy to be wrong!

Only half joking, but seriously this team is so up and down all season and 100% NEEDS this win to have a showdown with the Jets next game. Hard to not look forward past this one, but this has ALL the makings of a classic Flames choke job, especially with how this season has gone.
Hoping for the best, but prepared for the worst. That is the Flames' moto.
Win this one and the next game vs the Jets becomes THE biggest game of the season. Lose this one to a bottom feeder and...well it's hard to justify the Flames being deserving of a playoff spot.
Nervous for this one, but am ready to jump back on the bandwagon if they pull it off!

I'm not discouraged by the Flames play at all. They are scratching and clawing their way into it, and players are stepping up in big ways.
I am discouraged by Winnipeg though. That was a big win over New Jersey. If they were in a prolonged funk there is a pretty good chance that that win pulled them out of it. The only reason the Flames clawed their way back was because of Winnipegs tailspin, and now they could be pulling out of it.
Still more fun than the previous 70 games though.

I agree with what you said. I’m not nervious as the Flames beat all feeling out of me long ago.

I’ve been a fan since 1980. I’m not guaranteeing a win, but I’m sure they won’t come out flat.

Flames in their last 14 games (9-3-2)
CF% 58%
SF% 56%
GF% 53%
xGF% 57%
SCF% 57%
HDCF% 56%
SH% 9.45
SV% .892
They're consistently carrying the play and outscoring their goaltending woes. Shooting percentage above league average but goaltending sub average in this time period.

Could be much worse... like myself a fan since 95... would have known better at that era but I was a kid.

Vladar should be starting tonight. Marky looked tired in the game against the Ducks and should be given an extra days rest.

Markstrom has played something like 16 of the last 17. That is too much for a lot of goalies, but especially for Markstrom considering how he looked the last game. Not feeling good about him starting again tonight, especially if the plan is to play him tomorrow too.

They're definitely making it a more fun and interesting end to the season than it could have been.

My thoughts too. Given his time off and how important he is I would have had Gilbert in tonight and save Tanev for the Jets.

Run them out of the rink in the first period and make the rest of the game a light practice for Markstrom. Biggest 2 games of the year, you run with your guy.

Markstrom basically had the night off the other night, I can see why they're going right back to him. He's the guy and in a must win game you need to play your top guys. I can see why the decision was made this way
