it should be in the off topic forum as it has nothing to do with flames hockey.

Can we just boot the BoLevi from the thread? Arguing in poor faith is basically trolling and nothing would be missed from his bigotry.

No, best to just close the thread so BoLevi can continue doing the exact same thing he’s doing in countless threads over the last few years.

The guy said Black Lives Matter was invalid during the Floyd protests because he couldn’t recall anyone ever explicitly saying that Black lives don’t matter.

He’s one of the most one note but memorably stupid trolls I’ve seen on here, and is still in this thread spreading pretty defamatory lies about Kadri. But it’s cool. Let’s keep him and just close threads he ruins. Fun!

In some cases there is only room for one viewpoint

When viewpoint is bigotry, yeah, I'd rather it not welcome here.

Only thing is he hasn't. There hasn't been anything bannable on this thread from anyone, so I don't know why we're resorting to hyperbole and getting our pressure up. It's a debatable subject with nuances. I don't see anyone trolling - just challenging the logic. The bickering gets a bit much.

Because writing everyone’s reaction off as “outrage culture” and claiming players who chose to wear the jersey were being bullied into doing so are such nuanced positions that effectively challenge the prevailing logic.

You don't have to agree...you can be completely against it, but challenge it and discuss it. Not a fan of shutting arguments down just because it bucks the norm. No derogatory words were used. Keep talking. That's what forums are for.

If you stop limiting your scope to a thread and consider a body of work BoLevi is the absolute definition of a troll.

Moderating a board like CP is a thankless job. I'm grateful every day I visit this site - which turns out to be every day - because I get to participate in a space that exists qualitatively above almost every other social media platform.

But Jesus titty-####ing Christ is the lack of moderation and accountability for a poster like BoLevi insufferable. It's not ambiguous. This person is a troll.

It hurts me to say this because I respect and value every member of the moderation team: This isn't a failure of the community to moderate or regulate itself. It is a failure of moderation.

Not meaning to be “derogatory,” but it’s tough to buy a lesson about What Forums Are For 101 from someone who has been on one for 20 years and can’t recognize a troll. Maybe it’s just because you agree with him, which in that case I get why it would be uncomfortable to admit he is troll as it kind of devalues your beliefs a bit if they’re the type of views people co-opt for a gag.

I don’t think whether derogatory words were used or not is the line, as I’m a huge fan of a well-placed derogatory word or phrase, but you’re absolutely blind if you think comparing people to witch burners, torturers, murderers, and fascists because they disagree with a hockey player’s opinion isn’t meant to be derogatory. Not to mention making up lies about Kadri. Absolutely bonkers.

Why not just close the thread? The event has come and gone.

I'm sure some here love the "anyone who doesn't agree with me is a fascist" type posts, but these are really better suited on other boards.

Unless it is bigotry towards Christians. Then it's all good.

It always amazes me how the most catered to group in North America can turn a discussion about equality for objectively oppressed people into how they are the real victims.

It always amazes me how the oppressed resort to the same tactics as their oppressors and then defend it as a moral imperative.

So Christians are being murdered and arrested? I'll have to watch the news report on that one.
