You can when one contradicts the other.

My point was that Reimer does not have clear and unambiguous support for the LGBTQ+ community. He contradicts himself in his own statement. And honestly, if he truly believed everyone was welcome in hockey, he’d suck it up and wear the damn jersey. Pretty sure Jesus’ Schtick is forgiveness.

His own freakin’ church has endorsed Pride stuff. He’s on his own here.

I don't believe in religion myself, but a lot of people are fully invested and live their lives by it, so it's kind of funny you're trying to preach acceptance and understanding yet only follow it when it's convenient for your own beliefs. I could easily say being trans is made up. Maybe just allow people to come around on things on their own instead of trying to shame people for not believing exactly what you do right this second.

Anyone who doesn’t wear a cross on Christian appreciation night is a bigoted christianophobe.

Had they historically been excluded from the game, and used as the default slur in every room, we’d have a “it’s okay to believe in fairy tales and play hockey” night too.

So you’d outwardly support it but privately mock it. Cool.

As a friendly reminder, this is the same person who goes over the top with comparisons (crusades, struggle sessions, etc) meant to highlight how illiberal and dangerous anything that promotes acceptance of any minority population is (not limited to LGBTQ), while also being the same person who believed the unvaccinated should be left to die (which should show you that this has nothing to do with liberalism or values, but mostly BoLevi just likes to demonize and stick it to people or types of people he hates, which includes LGBTQ people).

He is truly not worth having a real conversation with.
Intentionally de-railing the Reimer thread by loudly proclaiming multiple times that Kadri is a racist homophobe just because he's Muslin told me all I needed to know about BoLevi

I lost my high school friends due to Christianity. My best friend from high school recommended conversion therapy. Christians have blamed people like me for virtually every bad thing that happened to their country and some of their leaders revelled in an epidemic that killed a huge part of a generation of people like me. And they worked to ensure that the people who died in that epidemic, died alone and stigmatized. To this day, Christians work to dissolve overnight marriages for people like me and label us groomers.

Yeah I guess you could say I might be a Christianophobe…if such a thing wasn’t utter bull####.

Trans people are even further behind in protections and are under real threat.

Pride night isn’t about legal equality. It’s about showing LGBTQ fans that the players give a #### about them. It’s about showing queer hockey players that they are welcome to be themselves within the hockey world. The fact that some players can’t even do that, shows that pride night and other queer community supporting events are still very necessary.
Just gonna quote this for those that still don’t seem to understand why this is an important discussion point.

Don’t worry though…I love the Christian…hate the evangelical Christianity. That’s how it works right?

Every team in the league runs Christmas promotions along with sleighs full of merchandise.

A Christmas-themed warmup jersey? Junior and Minor League teams have 'em. Have for years. I'm sure the NHL will eventually. Very few would be offended..

I know the Canucks have had Diwali themed warm-ups, and they and the Flames have had Lunar New Year ones.

These share cultural celebrations and aren't sporting religious context.

In that vein, themes like Pride or Indigenous are also celebrating culture.

Only one viewpoint allowed here!

And we welcome all discussion as long as it echos what everyone here thinks.

The hallmark of a good discussion.

God this board has gotten so old and out of touch. I guess that probably happens to all message boards as the younger generation doesn't really use them.

To quote what Riemer said about LBGQT, the same can be said about evangelical Christianity.

" About evangelical Christian, you want to love them, where it intersect for a Christian for the way I personally and the people close to me in my life interpret the Bible is you love them but you can't support their activities and lifestyle."
