I agree, it was a good shot and a deserved goal. That’s the point.

One guy is paid over 6 million to make difficult saves. The other guy at the other end makes $800,000. Don’t think it’s unfair to expect a goalie like Markstrom to make a save that others wouldn’t make given the expectation that comes with the contract (even if that was a great shot).

It's been there in recent weeks. Look at his career and you will see he isn't very far off his last couple of seasons.

This is pretty much the player you can expect him to be. He isn't an offensive dynamo, but he does great at turning pucks back the other way, and then pushing the play up the ice to let his forwards get their chances. That's why he's a net extremely positive player, even though he doesn't get the points himself.

When you are in game 77 and your team save percentage is .892 you have let in a lot of good goals and more than the odd bad one. Maybe next year we will try a guy who has had two of the best goaltending seasons in recent AHL memory.

He is the type of player every team needs. Doesn’t care about the offensive stats, even though he could do more. But, he doesn’t as the sacrifice to not be there defensively (which should be the first priority), is equally as important. Not flashy, but reliable and solid, not to mention gritty.
