Huberdeau was probably looking for someone to pass to on that penalty shot

Yes. I agree and it’s hard to watch. I like having an enforcer on a team and do not have a problem with him playing often. He is not the reason why the Flames are a bubble team. But, at times, it could be avoided by not playing him every game.

He wanted Demko to go down earlier and he’d go for the backhand. Demko was patient because Huberdeau made it too obvious.

I hope Pelletier and Coronato were taking notes on that 4th line shift that led to the Canucks 3rd goal. A real learning opportunity.

I would give the option of a penalty shot or a 2min pp instead. Team gets to pick but doesn't get both.

Looks like that to me. Demo is stealing this game with a bit of luck and some 11 bell saves.

I’ve never understood why teams don’t have the option to decline the penalty shot and take a power play instead

Except their supposed top forwards? They’re kind of important…no?

They just seem highly dependent on the player who draws the penalty unlike actual powerplays

Agree. Canucks look like crap and yet they have 3 goals.

I really hope Huby can turn it around at some point. Because it's gonna be a long 8 years if he doesn't

Well, other than that spinorama move he did in the preseason.
At the start of the season I kept thinking to myself "Oh, Huberdeau is just such a good playmaker his linemates aren't ready for his passes yet, but that will change!" Nope, turns out he's been awful top to bottom virtually every single game.

I think he's a prime candidate to have a great bounce back year next season, but this year he's been closer to James Neal as a Flame if anything.

I don’t think they would. For all the complaining, Huberdeau was .500 on PS going into that one. You take that all day over a 2 minute power play.

Right now, Demko Vs. Markstrom is 100% the difference.

Flames just need to keep going, and Marky needs to make a couple of big saves

Percentages wouldn’t really support that, would they? Feel like most teams would take the shot.
