He had lots of opportunity here. He wasn't even a good AHL player last year. I would rather have kept him over Mackey, but neither seemed like they were going to be anything other than a #7 d man.

Good for him!

His potential was clear the first year he was called up. They gave him some honest chances post-injury and it was clearly not panning out. I hate to see a deserving player get robbed of a career in part due to injuries, and it didn’t look bright for him in Calgary. In fact, in an alternate universe the start of this year could have been his last real opportunity in the NHL. So glad he pulled out of the nose dive in time

No doubt, he's having an incredible season. Just having a little fun cause you said "literally". I've never been a Tkachuk fan, but hard to argue the season he's having.

Panthers are lucky the playoff pace in the east is lower this season or it would be over already despite Tkachuk playing as well as could possibly be imagined.

Heck they are STILL behind the Flames who are having a disaster of a season according to most

Anyway, he is having a great year regardless if the Panthers made the playoffs or not. You are not saying Toffoli is having a bad year because the Flames may not make the playoffs.

Maybe not exactly be probably close

Tkachuk on the Flames....no Huberdeau or Kadri, no Weegar. Monahan for 20 games?

Tkachuk wouldn't have the big numbers again here in that scenario...that is why he wanted the trade and sign last summer. When Gaudreau left the Offence was looking pretty thin.

Not with this lineup he didn't...

Who said Tkachuk is having a bad year? I said he is playing as well as could possibly be imagined.

Still less points than Huberdeau last year, no Weegar, no first.

No improvement, no MVP is all that I argued

We seem to downplay our guys and often for good reasons. (not to low, not to high) where as Florida called Tkachuk a generatonal player.
Right away that allowed him to fit in and feel confident and then he has a coach who believes in him. It will be interesting to see how he responds come playoff time. If he keeps it up and does well we may have to look at our approach to building up our players. Maybe he doesn’t show, but I have a feeling if he gets in, he may be a hunger version of the Tkachuk we saw. This is not to say Sutter doesn’t support or build up our players but building Huberdeau up and giving him some of Lucics touches might have got him going sooner.

Wasn't Huberdeau called the greatest playmaker the franchise has ever seen by this coach?
