I think they could extend 1 or 2 of the UFA's. But trading them af the draft will likely garner a lesser return than if you can hold them and trade them with retained salary into the season.

But who knows how this all shakes out. I'm sure there are things that will happen that no one saw coming.

I'd like to see them try and bring in a few younger guys like Caoronato and Zary along with Pelletier and Duehr while trading off all the pending UFA's through the season. I'd think Lindholm and Hanifin are the Teo to try and keep, but cost might be a too much. Can't afford anymore 7 million dollar guys who are not elite level types.

Definitely has a great work rate, and like you say, comes up big in important moments.

I was disappointed to see that he produced less at 5-on-5 than I hoped, but he seems to have a great attitude and I think has only scratched the surface.
Treliving spoke a bit about his season on Flames Talk yesterday. He felt Coronato's game isn't best-suited to centre, which he played a lot due to injuries, and that he's better on the wing finding and making space to score. He also felt that his stats probably would have been higher had he been on the wing.

So it is settled he regrets moving to Calgary and it is all Sutters fault.

Personally, I think Anyone who wants an extension needs to have it agreed to by start of the draft.

No hard feelings to anyone who doesn’t want to stick around, but I can’t stand them losing out on pieces that could set them up for another decade to run it back with one of the most unpopular teams they’ve ever iced.

In that clip you saw fellow rookie Jakob Pelletier talking to him and explaining things to him.

"That's the blue line right here, don't cross it before the puck does"
"Over there is the boards, don't run into them. They hurt."

Matty, you're the Flames now, you need to remember one very important thing, you hate anything and everything about the Oilers. And you have Killer's number, next time and every time you face them, you have to do what Killer did, kill them!

He's obviously not a goon, but interesting to see that Coronato had some PIM's when in the USHL. In his two seasons with Chicago Steel, he led the team in penalties in the most recent year and was 2nd the year before. And both years' total ended in an odd number so their are some 5 minuters in there.

Is 39 his permanent number? I assume it was his choice if so. I was just hoping he'd want 19.

They always have 'higher' numbers until they make the team full time, no?

I think that had more to do with Cammalleri having 13, Gaudreau had 13 the next training camp.

Spencer Foo got 16 right out of the hop. There's been others.

Yes, you had to be on the AHL roster as of a couple of weeks ago in order to be eligible for their playoffs. IIRC this is why Pelletier was sent down on paper.

If it was me, I would be targeting the second game against the Canucks (game #80) to slot him into the lineup and give him 2-3 games of action. The team should have a finite picture of where they stand after the Winnipeg game, and Coronato will have had a chance to fully absorb the system, some travel with the team, and most importantly wrap his head around the speed of the NHL game.

You could make a case for the Chicago game as it will be easier for the staff to control matchups on home ice, but it seems a bit rushed considering that is going to be a do or die game.
