The guy that tried to blow up the cop car with the rag in the gas tank would be a good special guest.

It will most certainly be on TSN. They carry the 30 for 30s also.

It's a provincial thing. The Peachfest riot of 91, Kelowna Reggata riot of 87, and the Parksville Sandcastle riot of 97.

I know it is tough to host a sandcastle competition without expecting to cause violence!

the kelowna regatta riots were in 1986 & 1987 - not 91 (the regatta was cancelled after the '87 riots).

we moved to kelowna in 1986 - arriving july 2nd or 3rd. a week or so later there was the first regatta riot. i remember calling buddies of mine back in ontario and telling them about it and we laughed about why my parents would want to move here!

an friend of mine who is a retired rcmp was working during the '87 riot and said it was terrifying. at one point (before they got into the thick of things) they pulled over a car that didn't look 'right' and when they checked the trunk they found it was full of baseball sized rocks. these guys had literally planned ahead and were bringing a trunk full of rocks to help destroy property/businesses/injure people. some people really suck.

I hope they interview car owners or even random strangers who were trying to save their cars. Those scenes were insane.

I remember in 2012 we went to Vancouver for my parents anniversary and we took the train to downtown to the hotel we were staying the first night. When we got off the train they were handing out these flyers with tons of pictures of people who had been doing illegal things in the riot. I thought that was pretty hilarious and sad, but held onto it for a few years because it was such a bizarre thing. I eventually gave it to a woman who was a big Canucks fan, I guess as an insult? Wish I would have kept it now.

I think it was something like this..

Alright...and now I'm learning about the Kelowna Regatta Riots.

I can envision the entitled Kewlonafornia trust-fund babies socking each other in the face with their boat-shoes and pashmina afghans already.

I remember trash talking upset 'nucks fans on Facebook and told them to watch out for rubber bullets before the game was over.

There were a few that unfriended me for that.

There is a lot of aggression in that fanbase for some reason

The guns and roses backlash seemed like a rather inordinate reaction to the news. It's the guns and roses, and nowhere near their prime lol.

Must be a side effect of paying 2 grand a month to live in a closet in a place where the sun don't shine

It's also the most temperate place to spend winter in Canada and is actually beautiful year round, unlike what most other Canadians go through 7 months a year ... so it can be argued there is much less reason for these lash outs than virtually anywhere else in the country

I think it's the general sense of entitlement that seems to be pervasive there

It really should be on both the 1994 and 2011 riots. I have complained about that to ESPN in an email.

I'll never forget this famous picture from the riots.

I believe they got married, had a kid, and as of a few years ago, are still together.

Spoiler!
