Maybe the best thing that can happen is Dong files his defamation suit and this moves into the courts and gets scrutinized under discovery where Parliamentary Privileged can be questioned.
I believe the article indicates that the Liberals have the transcripts and recordings from CSIS, they could kill this whole thing by releasing them if Dong is innocent, however there is the questions of why Dong is calling the Chinese without the government knowing about it as they claim.

you do know this thread isn't the application to Joe Roga's anti-woke comedy club, right?
There are some precarious lines being walked all around now with regard to race and racial discrimination in these scenarios. Looking at the stuff with Ken Sim for example, he was celebrated as the first "Chinese Canadian" mayor in Vancouver, obviously referencing the racial or ethnic component of his identity and recognizing it being an advance in representation for the office. Later, when the stories were coming out about the Chinese Consulate and the mayoral election, he was again being referred to in some reporting as the "Chinese Canadian" mayor of Vancouver, but in a new context that seemed to be either implying his racial identity was relevant or that he was actually in some way Chinese by nationality even though his family came to Canada when he was just a child, he grew up in Canada, is certainly Canadian and has no Chinese nationality.
Clearly, Ken Sim is Canadian, but in comments and online discussion about the incident it wasn't hard to find people saying stuff like "send him home", as if people either believe he's not from Canada (an idea possibly conveyed by the reporting) or they think ethnically Chinese people aren't really at home in Canada.
Reporting referring to him as Chinese Canadian in a context where racial identity shouldn't be relevant is problematic, but my guess is the journalists referring to him in that way probably didn't even think about it or how it could be interpreted. At least I hope they didn't. Nonetheless, that kind of thing connotes some stuff that imo should have no place in the press, like the idea that someone may be untrustworthy or have connections to a foreign government simply on the basis of their racial or ethnic identity despite having spent basically their whole life in Canada as a Canadian citizen and in no way being "Chinese Canadian" as it may refer to nationality or something.
It's subtle stuff, much more subtle than the fortune cookie joke. The subtly both makes it more understandable if someone unintentionally implies something they didn't mean, but also makes it more disturbing in some sense because of how easily it can slip by.

Are we really meme-policing now? Just scroll past it if you don't like it. Jesus people grow up.
Without seeing the meme, hard to comment on if it was a particularly distasteful meme that doesn't belong in a forum, or if it was targeted because it may have been anti-left / anti-Liberal which is a no-no by some.
I dunno...he's a head of state going to London for the biggest funeral of the Century?
Its not a cheap town to begin with, obviously every bigwig in the world is going to be there, there needs to be security, etc.
$6k a night actually seems pretty reasonable to me.
the cost is excessive; however, it is chump change in the context of the federal government spend.
to me the issue is, why side step the direct questions in the house about who stayed there? just own it.
after all, JT did promise an open government sometime back in 2015.
if he cant tell the truth about a hotel room, why should he be trusted on others. this is just yet another reason to not trust a guy who keeps having ethics issues
this news seems like it was issued as yet another distraction

It was a relatively benign meme that said "Trudeau Government - Made in China" on the fabric tag on the back of a shirt.
Was it a kinda lame, boomer-tier quality meme? Yeah.
Does it convey a point about Justin's Chinese connections? Sure.
Is it a threat to undermining our democracy? I don't even know what that's supposed to mean.

a the Left : political groups who favor sharing money and property more equally among the members of a society : political groups who support liberal or socialist policies
His nomination is opposed by the country's Left.
The new law is disliked by the Left.
Members of the Left have voiced their opinions on this matter.
b the left : the position of people who support the beliefs and policies of the political Left
The party has shifted to the left. [=has become more liberal]
I understand the English language is difficult and the word left has multiple meanings and needs clarification
Justin is refusing to confirm if he met with Biden. He said it’s not up to him to tell us if he did, so he’s assembled a committee to find out if he did.

Sounds like something people put together without any logical reasoning behind it. The English language isn’t that hard once you get used to it, but credit where it’s due adding silly meanings to certain words can unnecessarily complicate things.
Is the $6k for the hotel room just the room itself? I'm assuming that there are extra security and resource costs, and spending that much for a 'room' for a head of state is pretty standard stuff.
I mean if that really annoys people, y'all ought to go see how much it costs to fly the President around PER SECOND.
