South Carolina I'd imagine.

Nasty.

A roommate from university flew for the Snowbirds, and when one went down a couple years ago I was worried, but his tour had ended the month before.

This is going to bring up the whole, "do we really need airshows/flight teams?" issue. I say yes, is shows th epublic what these guys can do, it generates national pride, it gives the pilots a place to "show off" their skills.

Whenever there is an airshow crash there is always a debate.

It goes along the lines of:
  • Why are taxpayers funding these type of expensive aerobatic teams?
  • Isn't that money better spent in other areas, especially when we are always told how uderfunded the military is? (in Canada, at least)
  • Is there any measure of any benefits from this sort of thing.
The big difference is Nascar teams are not funded by the government.

ok well if it's taxpayer funded then i can see why there would be debate. i do agree they should still be done though as they're a useful promotional tool for younger teens possibly looking at the air force, and to just give a positive PR outlet for the military in general
