I'm not really sure this group of players can get back to being something I'm enthusiastic to cheer for. I would like them to keep Backlund and Rasmus, but the rest could pretty well all go as far as I'm concerned, especially Huberdeau.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement by Lanny on Darryl there.

It’s tough when every mistake is in the net.
And you make plenty of mistakes

Its so baffling its almost like he's self sabotaging the season since game 7.

Lanny says it himself.
“Darryl says it’s my way or the highway”
Yeah, Darryl’s way is bull#%^*.
(But this roster is also bull#%^*)

From JT Miller about Bruce “This wasn’t too fun of a place to be in the beginning & mid-part of the year. It was a bit of a #### show…it really was. A lot of distraction. I think we’ve moved on, we understand who we’re going to be moving forward. It’s fun to come to the rink again.”
I’m sure it would be a matter of time before players and fans compare him to Darryl for being “mean.”

I say give Lanny the reigns on the bench for the rest of the year.

That's been my tinfoil hat theory for a couple months now. Making sure Treliving isn't back next year.

Lanny is right, you have to find a way to work together. Bednar is a more positive guy, encouraging and cajoling the players to be their best. When you have a coach who does not do that you have to find another way, even the Cowboys won under Barry Switzer, surely it is possible even under Sutter.

I found it puzzling at the time and even more so now as to why the Flames re-signed Sutter like 10 games into the season.
Why not wait and see after 30 or so games before making that decision?
Not saying it is related but right after that was announced the team spiralled down after having one of the best starts in franchise history.
Puzzling..

Sutters trying to undermine Tree. Team got sick of being political puppets. Won't play for the coach who doesn't like the GM.
Tie all these story lines throughout the season and it paints a pretty negative picture locked squarely onto sutters face.
Or the entire things is bad. Whichever.

Darryl would be fine if they play tight checking mistake free hockey, the goalie makes the save when they need it and the top forwards can score clutch goals
He has none of those with this version

Lanny pretty much exposing Darryl for being stubborn.
Sutter walked into that room behind them they should have locked him in the room like the LA players did.

Sutter isn’t doing the behind the back passes in the neutral zone. Sutter isn’t competing on Baird battles. Sutter isn’t passing into the feet of his teammates. It’s part coaching and deployment / execution.
I heard on the panthers boards that Huberdeau was a softie. He needs a Benny to crash the net and a Barkov to play behind. He’s not a line driver nor a game changer. He’s like Alex tan guy but i think tanguay was an actual winner. Huberdeau has no finisher but he looks putrid. Not even 60 points.
You think he’s a top performer with more ice time? I don’t. I see a guy who’s a complimentary piece getting paid, soon to be , like an elite piece. Brad could have traded him to Montreal for a good package. We will be in real tough to move on from that. It almost looks like buy out before it even kicks in. That has to be a record. Another reason to let treliving go be a host at one of his dads Boston pizzas. He can trade customers from the lounge to the restaurant with no pressure now.

Francis asked Lanny about Kadri's frustration and Lanny was trying to be diplomatic but said "Bednar is a positive guy. Darryl is a 'my way or highway guy'.".

NHL players are different than they were, from even 8-10 years ago. I don’t think the hard approach works as well anymore. Especially for any long duration.
