If Reimer wants to sit out warm up, have at 'er. If it's his legitimate religious belief then that's his belief. However, my issue is he did a press release stating why. Just sit out and do your thing. By doing that you are respecting your beliefs while still being friends with members of the community (I do find it odd that you'd be friends with someone who is gay but against them having rights due to your religious beliefs, but that's neither here nor there).
Secondly, kinda wish Flames Pride Night was against the Sharks, but again, that's just me being mischievous.
That was my thought as I read through this thread.
I was also asking a simple question of how many people would be against Straight Night? just to celebrate that we're all straight. It sounds ridiculous doesn't it? but we're trying to make everyone equal...
This is the same argument that is brought up when people demand a white history month to be on equal footing with having a black history month. Or that since Black Lives Matter than All Lives Matter. They don't get it. It's a bigoted view and it's not the point.
I understand where they are coming from. They are finally getting a taste of how it feels to have the emphasis not on your dominant race/culture/affiliation and they are feeling like they are getting marginalized by parades, events, and days of reconciliation.
The point of these events are, as Brian Burke put it - to put out a small gesture to let people know that they are also welcome. It is not for equality. It is a brief moment (just like pride parades) where minority groups can be recognized and told that yes you can be yourself in public without fear and know you are accepted.
Of course, every time such a gesture is attempted, there are plenty of people who come out against and which clearly shows them they are not yet accepted and do not deserve a few minutes of some rich millionaires wearing some colors on their jerseys during a warmup.

Honest question, what kind of person do you think shows up for "Straight Night" or "White Night" at a sporting event to promote "actual diversity"?
Those sound like events that should be hosted, simultaneously, after the Dome has been officially condemned and laced with detonation-cord for demolition, the doors welded shut from the outside and then some sort of LGBTQ+ raffle for the honours of pushing the button.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
Bill Marr, like John Stewart always seemed like the voices of reason and outliers on the political spectrum that we need more representation from. They are actually centrist conservatives with leftist values. They can say "we are all for the left and liberalism and progress and have advocated for them for decades, but sometimes you need to pump the breaks, stop & look around, and be sensible and rational". We need to have centrism back as our tentpole and not left and right at each other's throats and flipping out over every little thing. That just pushes us more to the extremes.

No one represents that anymore though. Politically.
*PRIDE Jerseys will be available to win via raffle during the game
You can buy tix thru the Pioneers.
They should be able to do something great with pride themed jerseys. The pride themed crest they put on the pride hats is nice already, but it could be awesome to see something a bit more adventurous than just a pride-themed flaming C on a plain jersey.

I always laugh about the fear that male athletes are going to change genders just so they can win women's events. Is there some sort of underground, highly financed women's sports that no one knows about?
Who wouldn't want to go through an intense, hard procedure to change their sex? Throw on the mental strain that can come with it, all the hormones you would have to take, and the cost and danger, but hey, you can make 40k a year to play women's soccer. Who is going to put themselves through that for minimal financial gain and limited fame?
It's about the thrill of victory. But it's much easier to forge some documents and play in the Little League World Series, or maybe pull an Eric Cartman so you can 'dominate' the Special Olympics.
