Seems less than ideal. This is a risky move that has the prospect of blowing up in their face.

The episode has been examined by both the Federal Election Commission and federal prosecutors in New York; neither took action against Mr. Trump.

I think we should be careful with these statements.

Just because the powers at be in China are doing some pretty brutal things doesn't mean that any one individual who happens to be born in China of no choice of their own should have their opportunities actively limited due to their nationality.

I can't think of any type of systemic bias similar to banning Chinese students that has ever been looked back on as anything but terrible.

My friends who drank the koolaid are not happy. They think the whole justice system is corrupt and feel this is nothing more than a political witch hunt. Anything I say only get them angry so I have to keep my mouth shut

Prediction - if he gets arrested - there will be limited protests but nothing major. Most people have moved on as seen by the lack of interest around his re-election campaign.

It isn't so much the protests as it is the potential for the charges to be thrown out or not amount to much and the response to that being disappointment from the people who want him to go away, and "we win again" from his supporters. I'm not sure expectations have been reasonably set here.
