- Flames come from behind and get a point
- Jets and Predators both pick up points
- Sloppy start cost them the second point

21st loss when outshooting the opponent by 10 shots or more.
How many 1 goal losses now? 26? 27?

 Crazy stuff.

I don’t know if the sloppy start costed them
They had multiple opportunities to win but choked it away. That’s how they rolled. Beginning, middle, end. Somehow they find a way not to win when they need it. Team just doesn’t have the confidence

Twice they got the lead and coughed it up within three minutes. Dallas is a strong team and had lost their last game, but this Flames team can't seem to clamp down at critical times when they need to.

Inside or outside of the crease makes no difference if the opposing player initiates intentional contact with the goalie...like say puting both your hands against his mask so he can't see.

This is from rule 69.1:

Goals should be disallowed only if: (1) an attacking
player, either by his positioning or by contact, impairs the goalkeeper’s ability to move freely within his crease or defend his goal; or (2) an attacking player initiates intentional or deliberate contact with a goalkeeper, inside or outside of his goal crease.

Yup. Plus, Markstrom is in the crease and Hintz is reaching into it to get at him, even though his feet are out.

The only thing that is completely obviously to me is Marky is doing his usual flop job after the puck is in the net.

I didn't think Hintz initiated contact. I looked to me that he was attempting to screen Markstrom, and Markstrom moved into him. The angle from behind the net made it look much more like this.
Still, what's wrong with a review, when there is some uncertainty, on a goal that decides the game

For me, it wasn't the sloppy start. The Flames took over the game and got the lead in the 2nd, only to have a breakdown that cost them. And they mostly dominated the 3rd, but another breakdown cost them.
Another solid effort, and another game they should have won, but found a way not to.

They also lack guys that can make a play when it’s required. They have to do it as a group based on volume. Other teams have those players. Like Sutter says almost every loss (because they are almost always 1 goal losses). Our top players have to make a play when it matters.

More often than not they don’t.

It’s an easier call if it’s inside the crease.

Outside it has to be really intentional and it’s debatable in this case

It's true - more often than not, they don't

But it wouldn't hurt if Sutter did a better job of putting them in a position to succeed.

Nah. There is something off about that

Just think about it.

Huberdeau had 115 points and Kadri was on 100 point pace. These guys can make plays. It’s a fact

Now Sutter lays out the game plan. We see it. It’s high volume of low probability shots, going for garbage goals.

He knows you can grind out a win, so if you can check to maximize possession, then play high volume shots and grind out the offence from there, it’s the holy grail, right? Ugh

He doesn’t get to just sit back and blame the players

Yes, they do have skill. They choose not to recognize and maximize it.

And I am fully aware I’m saying it after a high offensive output game. They happen. Statistical outliers happen, and the message to the players that they are unskilled is wrong

The statement itself doesn't make sense. We have no top skill players so we have to shoot a bunch, but our top players need to score a big goal. So do we or don't we have a top players?

I think 2 big factors is rolling 4 lines regardless of time and score and pulling the goalie with a minute or less left.

Most teams start pulling goalies much earlier, you are not giving the team enough time.

Sutter's fairly regular comments of the team's lack of skill to the media certainly could be a self-fulfilling prophecy. We have no idea how he may be propping up their confidence in person to counter this but I have my doubts that his style works well with a lot of younger players these days.
